Anyone else wishing the C's would have held on to Bol Bol?  Kid is having a great start to the year.  Would have helped with our big man depth and would have been a much better contributor then any of the backup bigs outside of Grant.  Kornet, Voneh, Kabengele, Blake just can't do what this kid can.

I agree. I thought we traded for him to be a “project” but apparently not. It would have been nice to see what he could do in the C’s system. A big who can rebound, hit threes, and block shots. Brad dropped the ball on this one i think.

We traded formhim because he was an easier salary dump than Juancho, and he was dumped as was expected at the time of his acquisition.  He’s talented, but rarely healthy.  We miss him this week, but check back in at thanksgiving.

Double double with 4 blocks.  He did have 6 tos though.  Still from after thought to productive player.   He was a highly touted prospect who needed to get through his foot injury.  He's looking good right now

The Magic also have several quality guards injured, so not sure what the rotation would look like for Bol if everyone is healthy.

Bol was injured when acquired, was acquired for cost saving purposes only and his release/trade was predestined. I'm happy he is sticking up stats on the worst team in the league because someone has to, but I am shedding no tears over him not being a Celtic right now. Though, I generally instantly move on from players after they leave the Celtics and don't care if they develop their game elsewhere, which I know is contrary to what so many other fans do.

The Celtics wanted two things last season:  to be competitive, and to stay under the luxury tax.

It was necessary to trade away Bol's salary to do those two things.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but there was no way to keep Bol while still acquiring White and Theis while also staying below the tax line.

My sentiments exactly. It's always easy to look at someone in hindsight. The purpose he was acquired and traded has been long forgotten by most by now, as was the fact that he was injured and we were in a win now situation.

I'd be more interested in Mo Bamba.  He's played just 13 minutes per game thus far after averaging nearly 26 mins per game last season.  Playing time cut in half after Orlando resigned him to a two year deal

Have always felt his development has been stunted in Orlando.  He carries a 10.3 mil cap charge so would mean Pritchard and Gallinari out the door.

I think having him would be an upgrade over what we have, so yes, I agree with the original poster.   The Boston Hypes Kornet ad nauseum but the play on the court doesn't match the hype.   The don't sleep on Luke Kornet killed me laugh wise, does he have compromising pics of the reporters  or what ?  JK

The Ringer (that never writes about the Celtics ever, unless we are losing) is salivating over Bol Bol.

Quote
In February, the Celtics traded Bol to the Magic for a future protected second-round pick. Now, some corners of NBA Twitter are arguing he’s the real Victor Wembanyama. Judging by true shooting percentage, 3-point rate, and block average no one besides Bol and Myles Turner this season has ever shot the ball and defended the rim so well at the same time since those numbers were first collected in 1982-83. That makes Bol one of this season’s early Most Improved Player award favorites. After being stuck on the bench in Denver behind a veteran cast, Bol is finally proving he’s the real deal, looking like the long-limbed unicorn with the grace of a ballet dancer that NBA executives thought he could be.

Notably Kornet has a near identical block-percentage to Bol (6.9 vs. 7.0) and a higher TS% (.751 to .668).  Kornet has played fewer than half the minutes and has less usage, so I get there's a difference, but at the same time it's unlikely Bol would be getting starters minutes here.

People do say really weird things on the internets.
