“The ankle, pretty serious injury,” Smart unveiled to reporters on Wednesday. “I'm thankful to be able to play, let alone still be walking. It hurt, but my mom always told me, if you are going to be on the court, you can't make excuses. If you're hurt, then sit your tail down. If I'm going to be out there, no matter how much pain I'm in, I can't let it affect me.”

Celtics list Robert Williams as questionable for Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Marcus Smart is no longer on the injury report.

Ime Udoka says that Marcus Smart’s rolled ankle will improve over time, but Rob Williams knee will continue to make him day to day throughout the Finals due to the surgery recovery & the bone bruise form colliding with Giannis.

Nothing unexpected here, but let's just recognize that every night these two are out there gutting it out, not close to 100%.

Definitely noteworthy. Makes me love these guys even more.

The '08 team was very likable, but it wasn't nearly as organically grown as this squad. Our core of Tatum, Brown, and Smart only know Boston basketball in the NBA. We've watched their entire NBA journey so far through the hills and valleys. It makes the experience that much better- it's not all gravy like KG and Ray coming in day 1 and winning.

Big players play big in big games. Injuries are real, but this team's heart is the story. Two Game 7 wins in a row. A fan base that wanted to trade core pieces and dump the coach. Despite all of this, these guys keep pushing.

Let's go fans! Let's go Celtics!

Shams Charania: Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II is on track to dress and be available for Game 1 of the NBA Finals vs. Boston tonight, sources tell me and @Anthony Slater. Remarkable return process for Payton after fracturing his left elbow on May 3

Seems weird to put him back in the fire after an elbow fracture, but sometimes it is good to know you have a body to throw in if needed.
