He kept his championship-caliber team together and made it even better. He re-signed CP3 instead of pulling a Danny. Had Jones let CP3 walk instead of paying up, it surely would have killed that championship-caliber chemistry and morale (same reason why Brad will probably be paying Horford next year). He should also get credit for extending Bridges in October, and making that look like a steal of a deal now. Re-signing Cameron Payne as the insurance policy on CP3 was another underrated move last off-season that has paid huge dividends. Furthermore, JaVale McGee is another under-the-radar move they made that has made them better than last year. Finally, opting to see what Ayton gets offered in RFA (and surely matching it) is another savvy move.

They are by far the best team of the regular season overall, and second best of 2022. That’s why I think both Monty and James should be under consideration for COY and EOY. These things do not just happen. That said, I’d pick Brad over Jones since Jones won last year…

So... he gets EOY for giving Chris Paul and Mikal Bridges huge contracts? You don't win EOY for keeping your team together the year after winning it in the first place

Yep.  Also hard to give Monty coach of the year when he does what was expected.  Last year was the year for the Suns guys to win, not this year.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I guess I am just quirky in that I think the best record by a long shot should get recognition somehow, at the very least via COY and/or EOY 🤷‍♂️ Monty was robbed last year, so I do think he should win it this year (although I obviously want Udoka to win).

I’d definitely pick Udoka. I’m assuming he was what he change that got  Smart to finally buy in to what we d always wanted him to be . The ability has been there for years. But he also can adjust offensively in the fly and not just run iso.  Got Jaylen out of that corner for good. Can’t say enough about Ime.
I’m big on Rob for DPOY . Smart has been fantastic but I give the edge to Rob ‘cuz I think Smart  was still coasting this year on defense until they turned it around ( in part due to his defense.)

Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Early DPOY award voting heavily favoring Smart.
And Bridges, another non-big, in 2nd place. That's pretty cool.

There's been a huge narrative swing towards Smart, so it would not surprise me at all.

No I’m with you. I don’t think EOY is the award though. COY, I can get behind because the best record in the league has to mean something.
