I am curious why someone like Westbrook, who is so dedicated to his craft…is such a bad shooter. He doesn’t have a massive wingspan or huge hands, two usual reasons for shooting issues.

Does anyone have a hypothesis or explanation for Westbrook’s terrible shooting statistics?
5' 10" former point guard

Career highlight: 1973-74 championship, Boston Celtics

Career lowlight: traded for a washing machine

I think it's shot selection. He also seems to shoot slightly differently on some shots. He gets sped up.

I'm going to assume it's either a mental thing, where he gets in his head too much, or if it's physical, he's just not Ray Allen.

Ray's strength was doing the same thing over and over and over into perfection. Russ's strength is his insane ability to adapt to the moment.

The latter is in a way the opposite of having a consistent shot :)
