I just wanted to remind everyone to watch out for the Memphis Grizzlies with the trade deadline a few days away. Currently they have the third most wins in the league, and seem to have a lot of trade ammunition - 3 1st rounders this year, Zaire Williams, and a bunch of expiring. Don't be surprised if they come away with a Jerami Grant, John Collins, or Domantas Sabonis type player.

If I'm Memphis I'm doing everything in my power to add Sabonis to the nucleus they have now. If Indys serious about tanking (and they should be) they should seriously consider something centered around Williams and Memphis's 3 1sts for Sabonis...

Sabonis / Adams
JJJ / Clarke
Brooks / Anderson
Bane / Melton
Morant / Jones

Is that team good enough to be serious contenders or should MEM stick with what they have?

Hmm, very interesting.  Right now Adams is a big part of their identity.  A trade could kill chemistry.  But, Sabonis is worth the three #1s I think.

I'M THE SILVERBACK GORILLA IN THIS MOTHER... AND DON'T NONE OF YA'LL EVER FORGET IT!

KP / Giannis / Turkuglu / Jrue / Curry
Sabonis / Brand / A. Thompson / Oladipo / Brunson

If I remember, Zaire Williams was a high risk high reward type...he's already seeing minutes and shooting well it seems.
If he is mature in that he can do all the little things on the court in big games, then they might as well keep him as he could become their SF of the future..

Morant, Melton
Bane, Brooks
Z. Williams, Brooks
JJJ, Clarke
Adams

If Memphis doesn't value Zaire W. that highly then Sabonis would be a great get....but agree with Roy, unless he's happy coming off the bench it could create issues....He'd be an awesome first big off the bench 6th man ala Kevin McHale

Memphis picked Williams 10th last year, which was surprising given his disappointing year in college and his projected draft position.  Not to say projected positions mean everything, and they don't, but it's safe to say that Memphis valued him very highly last June.  Given that he's in their rotation now, it's unlikely they've soured on him.  I suspect they still value him as a top-10 pick still.

Wow, jesus ... I don't realize how much Memphis could improve with one big trade. I agree, they could become title contenders with a move like that.

(1) Sabonis, certainly yes. That extra post scoring, shot generation and playmaking would give their offense the boost it needs to compete with the best of the best.

(2) John Collins? Maybe, maybe not. I like him as a PF next to JJJ at C. That team would be near unstoppable offensively. I like him at PF next to S.Adams too. I feel his best role would be as a 6th man but playing 30-32mpg off the bench but I am not sure his ego could take that. So bringing him in and changing the starting lineup, putting JJJ at center might cause some chemistry issues. Collins not a disciplined enough defender and more self-interested than team orientated in contrast to the rest of the team.

(3) Jerami Grant? Nope, not good enough.

What salary is Memphis sending out?  They can't just trade Williams for Sabonis and the 10 deep has basically all of the larger salary players.  Sabonis isn't a max guy, but he still makes a shade under 20 million, so they have to get up in that 15 million range to make it work.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Sabonis for Anderson, Dunn, Williams, 3 1sts work.
