Smart a different kind of point guard a one of a kind

Marcus Smart should have been a warrior, or a middle linebacker like Dick Butkus .Marcus must have the most unbelievable core strength that allows him to contort mid air like when he blocked Kelly Oubre.
His game is changing for the better  but he did say the quad injury and glass in hand had bothered him but this new point guard mentality mixed with showmanship can be as irritating as his jacking up inefficient three point shots.Maybe the trade talk is getting him to push the envelope. The way he plays with Rob Williams that allows his nuances to shine and lets the total picture be the statement.
Getting the ball to his teammates at their highest percentage spots or a pass that can be one with their shooting motion makes me go WOW for its simplicity and effectiveness.I know who should get the quiet credit.My recent favorite was Gordon Hayward in letting a play develop with his patience in the key and foul line extension,
..Playing in control and controlling the tempo while knowing where the ball should go and getting it there.

That video is awesome (TP given).  Why do people want to trade Marcus Smart?

As to playing PG, I think that is the perfect role for him.  I love him as a PG.  Sure, it would be nice if he made 3s at a higher percentage but it seems that when he is in the PG mentality, his shot selection is better.  When is is playing SG, maybe he feels he needs to shoot more.

Anyway, I have said many times in many threads, Marcus Smart is not the problem with this team.

There aren’t realistic options out there at the point guard position that would be better than Smart. As long as he’s looking to pass first and minimizes the 3pt shooting, I have no issues with his game. He’s probably the best defensive guard in the NBA.

Great video, TP. The only other player that I can think of that seems to take as much pride in their defense as Marcus does is Draymond Green. Videos like this show how much they truly love playing D.

Gary Payton II has a bone to pick with you, but it's close.

I do think Smart could play well WITH a top tier PG, but I'd agree that when Smart is playing the way he has lately, it greatly reduces the need for one. To that point, I'd love it if the Cs could locate a strong option / shooter at the SG position.

TP for that video brought back memories,My coach was Rollie Massimino out of
Hillside NJ  and he learned from some of the Gods of coaching back then .So coming to Lexington, "assume the position",get down and dirty intimidate .Pressure man to man help defense70% of practice was defensive drills angles,lateral and hit those screens with elbows or knees make him feel it.I loved to give good hard box out .

If Smart would always play like he has since coming back from injury then this is a nonissue. Smart needs to play with consistency and energy in every game.  As the longest tenured Celtic the other guys follow his lead. I wish our starting lineup would be changed to Smart, J Rich, Brown, Tatum, and TIMELORD. This adds more shooting, ball handling, and playmaking.
