The Celtics are struggling.  Highlighted by the latest choke loss to the New York Knicks.

To me it looks like they are due for a shakeup.  For whatever reason this team composition is not conducive to winning and they feel like they are underperforming compared to their talent.

In particular a team based on two of the top wings in the NBA 'should' be performing better than they are.

If you were in Brad Stevens shoes, who would you trade away, and who would you seek to acquire.

Acquisition options are nearly unlimited so I set the poll to options of who would you trade AWAY for an upgrade?  Let us know in your posts who you think we should acquire and who we should GIVE UP to make the trade happen!

Bottom line - do you agree that the Celtics should make major trade(s) this season and shake up the roster?

Cs need to exhaust all options in building around JB and JT.

They need to package some combo of Smart/Schroder/Horford/Williams/Hernangomez/Richardson contracts for viable players that can play next to JB and JT, preferably a point guard and a swing/4 type player.

ya think? they have:

~ poor leadership
~ lousy shooting
~ no floor general
~ back-up PFs only
~ a star player at risk of throwing his hands in the air / eyes starting to wander to other landing spots

Yeah they definitely do.

I'd say of the non-Jays group, Timelord should be the next thing close to untouchable UNLESS he's being shipped in a package for some LEGIT star-player (like a Beal/Lillard/KAT kind of name), otherwise I feel trading him away actually hurts our frontcourt a lot.

Besides that, yeah everyone else can definitely be made available.

If they go past this trade deadline standing pat or only making very minor moves again I'll be ticked.

I'm becoming open to the possibility of trading Brown. He is uber-athletic, but doesn't appear open to changing his game in the same way Smart and Tatum clearly are this year.

He's still a non-factor at the end of most games. He still turns the ball over an insane amount. Still has poor handles. Still has mental lapses on defense almost every game.

Don't get me wrong he's a great player - better than 90% of the NBA. That's why I think trading him might be on the table because he could get you good players in return.

I'm just starting to have doubts he'll ever be good enough to be a true #2 on a great team.

I am too if you can get equal value. His passing and handle I think may prevent him from becoming a top tier player but he's young enough where he's still got the potential so teams will want him.  But he and Tatum don't really function well together.

I don't see a mid-season trade that really transforms this team.  Playing the young guys and developing them seems like the way to go.

I’d like to try and keep JT and JB and see what happens with a different supporting cast. I think we need vets/tough guys to surround the Js with. Obviously they’re not ready for the leadership role yet. I miss those days with Jay Crowder, Marcus Morris, IT. I was hoping Smart and Big Al could fill those roles, but apparently not.  This team is lacking in toughness and physicality. I would love to see Sabonis to team up with the Js.

I am very wary of any trades right now. Not saying we shouldn’t do one if the right one comes along… That is another team being somewhat desperate to with a star they want to get rid of.

We are perceived throughout the league as dealing from a position of weakness right now thanks to Ime. Either the players are not listening to him or he is not telling 5hem anything useful, or maybe a combination of the two, it’s hard to tease out.

The list should've been players that we could trade for that would improve the team. Moving players around midseason doesn't seem like it'll lead to big improvements. We need more shooters but we also need guys that Ime will play.

Anybody except for Tatum or Jaylen is available.

Of the players listed, the two I'd most shop are Smart and Horford.

Horford because his contract best enables us to get a high paid star or quasi-star in return. Plus, Horford no longer fits what we need except in a 20mpg bench role which isn't worth his paycheck.

Smart because we desperately need more shooting, quickness, ball-handling and passing in the backcourt. His offensive limitations are becoming to hard to hide given our team's woeful offensive talent outside of the Jays.
