Can you guys educate me a tad on Schroeder?

   I feel like we would probs my get more ball movement with Dennis just because he has the ability to beat his man pretty well. Without him we have smart some at point snd he does a fine job in half court but he’s just not much of an actual THREAT to the defense. They d would let both these players, along with Jrich snd Timelord take jumpers all day probably which is most likely a problem.
   But do we ha d any hope at all realistically of keeping Dennis past this season of he plays well? Can we afford him in that 15-20 range?  ( I’d imagine closer to 20)
  If it’s not realistically possible to retain him beyond this year to you guys think there is a LIKELYHOOD he is dealt for a pick before the year is up?
  Or do you think the Celts would never mess with doing that?

   I’m not advocating anything like a trade , either. I always loved Schroeder and was hoping there’s some way of keeping him.

 So, unfortunately there is next to no chance we resign Schroeder. We don't have his bird rights so we can't go over the tax to resign him. Smart's extension and Robert Williams extension mean we will go over the tax. It's extremely unlikely that we clear enough cap space by next season to resign him. We could only offer him the over the taxpayer exemption. He will get more on the market. The Celtics would have to trade Horford next offseason and receive minimum salary back. I just don't really see it happening. We only signed him because it was such a good deal for us for a year. It keeps us competitive to keep the Jays happy and gives Prichard another year to develop. It seems like the hope is next season Prichard can step up and be a really good backup pg next year. Prichard's style plays better with the jays anyway.

I like Smart as the starter because he's not going to be the focal point. He can bring the ball up, initiate the offense, and let the ball move. Tatum and Brown will be the focus. It won't surprise me at all if Schroder is finishing some games but he makes more sense running the second unit with the ball in his hands.
