…in a Atlanta Hawks jersey by next season.

The Hawks squad really reminds me of the 2018 Celtics team in terms of almost being too deep and with plenty of options available for the GM going forward.

Everyone needs to give Travis Schlenk credit (including myself), as I assumed he’d be fired by now and instead looks to be on precipice of something special in Atlanta.

This seems like a boom or bust season for the Timberwolves with Towns, if they struggle and fade from the playoffs early, I can see his agent handing in a trade request.

The Hawks have all their picks, veterans and youthful talent available.

A selection of 1st round draft picks, Collins, Capela, Reddish, Huerter, Okongwu or Bogdanovic can easily get the deal done.

Towns, Hunter, Young and players not included in the trade, would be an instant contender for the 2022-23 season.

I think Towns in Boston makes the most sense.

Maybe it a 3 team trade

Boston - Towns
Philly - Brown, Beverley
Minny - Simmons, Maxey, R. Williams

Something like that.

Atlanta has one all star caliber player, and they're not trading him. Minnesota isn't giving up their franchise player for a bunch of role players, which is all Atlanta has apart from Young. And Atlanta has only 1 extra 1st rounder, OKC's, which is lottery protected.

Unless KAT specifically demanded to go to ATL, hard to see it happening. They're going to want a star player or a very high draft pick.

Yep. [dang] I hate to lose Jaylen... even more than Tatum... but it does make a lot of sense. But right now, I feel that Beverly goes to us, not Philly. Simmons has stink on him at the moment. Landing Brown would be _huge_ for Philly

a big whopping NO on that for 2 big reasons
1. the idea is to add to Jaylen and Jayson, not swap them for another all-star.  KAT has been in this league long enough to show that while he's a top player, he's not going to get you over the hump.  hasn't led Minny to anything so far regardless of who they put around him.  doesn't exactly ooze effort on the floor either.
2. Simmons is being way overvalued here.  Philly would have to kick in a lot more.

Brown for KAT would be a fair value swap in light of Jaylen's continued improvement in his game and demonstrated ability to perform well in the playoffs.  KAT's not exactly advancing his game much from his rookie year nor is he regarded as someone committed to winning.

I’d hate to make Philly better but Towns would be a good get. Would have made a lot more sense of there was a way for Cs to grab Beal via FA and then flip Brown for Towns so you’d have a core of Beal/Tatum/Towns. I don’t think that’s a possibility anymore since the Cs have basically taken themselves out of FA with the Smart extension.

And what exactly has Brown shown?  For most of his career, Boston has been better with him not even playing or not on the floor.  Towns is a better player than Brown and is actually more impactful to winning.  The problem in Minnesota has nothing to do with Towns.  Every single year of Towns career, his on/off per 100 possessions has been positive and many years well into the positive.  This past season Minnesota was 11.1 points better per 100 possessions with him on the floor vs. when he was on the bench.  That is elite level.  As a comparison, this past season Boston was only 0.6 points per 100 possessions better with Brown on the floor and that was the first time in the positive in a few seasons (Tatum has been the most impactful person to the C's success since he basically entered the league - Tatum is the player that makes Boston go).

If you can acquire Towns for anything other than Tatum, you pretty much have to do it.  A Tatum/Towns duo raises the ceiling of the team significantly.  Once you get a duo actually good enough (which Tatum/Towns is and Tatum/Brown is not), you then try to acquire a 3rd player using the other assets i.e. Horford, Richardson, Nesmith, bunch of 1sts for Beal and Bertans (or something like that).

I generally hate KATs game. I think he’s a big who plays soft. That said, his talent and skill levels are really high and maybe playing with someone like Horford would unlock something in him. If we can get him in a multi team trade and it will cost us JB… that’s something to consider, for sure. Not sure I’d do it but it’s interesting. Anyway, this team is only gonna go as far as Tatum can carry it, regardless.

I would say that Brown and Embiid would take the Sixers to the finals and could get through the Nets and Celtics. I am not sure Tatum plus Towns is greater than Embiid plus Brown.  I would be more apt to think it was if Towns was a better defender than he is.

I think Embiid would eat him alive in a playoff matchup. Now, Tatum would eat anyone on the Sixers alive as well but in the end, I think losing Brown for Towns does not improve our team but it is fair value and that trade actually makes some sense on a few levels although I think Minny will want a few picks in addition to that package. Now, it is possible Tatum takes another step up and Towns could actually be a perfect compliment to him. This is what I do not know.

I put Maxey and R. Williams in there instead of picks.  I figured they made more sense for the Wolves than some late 1st round picks.
