If Smart doesn't accept the proposed extension figures, I would be absolutely ecstatic moving him in a sign-and-trade for Josh Hart.  Hart brings a lot of intangibles that Smart brings to the table and is a better offensive player imo.  He would also balance the roster out as we could stick him at shooting guard.

There'd have to be more coming our way. Hart is in the same tier of shooting as Smart, and his best skill is rebounding.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I’m very pro Marcus Smart trade.

That said this would be a terrible move.

I like Hart better....because he doesn't jack up ill advised shots.... even though they shoot at a similar rate

I would gladly trade Hart for Smart.  Hart would fit better with the Jays imo

I'm not sure that I agree. Smart is a much better passer and defender, and shoots the same efficiency (around 34%) on more attempts. Hart is much better at rebounding and scoring inside the arc, and that's really it. Don't think it's necessarily a better fit, we need passing and shooting.

I think Smart is the better player, Hart is slightly worse.  Don't let that one good game against us, cloud your judgement.

I just checked and Josh Hart is a RFA ($5.2M QO).  This means any trade would be a Sign and Trade, and that means a hard cap.  Not sure that Hart is what we need in any case but to give up Smart and be hard capped, no thanks.
