Most guy would kill to have Shaq's career.
It's wild to me but Shaq is now underrated. I think this is the result of 1. the "he was lazy and under-achieved" narrative fully taking root and, 2. the NBA community deciding that Kobe was their guy and wanting to elevate him as much as possible, historically.

Now, it's true that Shaq was lazy and he did underachieve but his ceiling, from a talent standpoint, was GOAT. He underachieved and still wound up being the most dominant offensive force of his generation, the anchor to some great defenses and a terrific individual defender. When I started watching the NBA (around 2001) everything NBA revolved around Shaq. He was the Lebron or Jordan of his time, in that the question was always: is someone going to beat Shaq's team this year?

It's a shame is this is getting lost to basketball history.
