Positive rule change. I am a big fan of Harden and Trae Young has managed to really grow on me because of their incredible skill not for their unnatural foul drawing abilities. This rule change will not invalidate them as players but should hopefully force them to become even more skillful by eliminating a flawed reward structure.

I skew toward enjoying great defensive play so I want players beat the great teams with difficult shot making not bail out foul calls. Conversely I'd also like to see less charges called, with players more incentivized to contest shots at the rim than slide in for a charge call.

Many I'm happy about this.  The reverse flop was just bugging the hell out of me.  Now I don't mind the way Kemba did it.  go around a screen, stop on a dime, get the contact and foul.  Now when I see Tre, Harden jump into the defender or kick their leg out to touch the defender and constantly get calls it's frustrating.  Harden should lose about 6 trips to the line because of these types of foul calls he got.  Tre will lose some as well.  IMO this was some BS Basketball.

I am with you on wanting less charges. I would be perfectly ok if they said you couldn't get a charge call without an attempt to defend the shot. It would also have the benefit of limiting all the reviews that go along with seeing if I guy got his feet set or was outside the restricted area. I had watching a player do a great move to get a path to the rim and someone sliding underneath him last second just turning the play into an ugly collision.

I really like how the FIBA refs officiate the game.  Much fewer calls.  Let them play basketball.  I hate what the NBA has become, where one moment a touch foul, the next moment assault gets ignored.  Plus the favorable treatment of stars has to stop. FIBA refs could care less who you are or how much you make.

- Joel Embiid
- Chris Paul
- Kemba Walker

Anyone else we should add to this list?
Bad news for Tatum as well with his push off/arm bar move. They called him a lot for it last season. Might be more this season.
I don't think it will be called any more frequently than last season as it's not a point of emphasis. It's not really the "overt non-basketball action" they're referring to

I also think Tatum knows that arm move has to go and he's been working to get rid of it.

I wonder if the “abruptly veering off path” will be used to cut down on the Euro step??
Yup

I guess it depends on what they do. The Euro step has become a totally accepted basketball move and is typically done to avoid contact. If you're doing a Euro to initiate contact then you could be in trouble, I suppose
