Celtics send out: Smart and Thompson

Grizzles send out: Kyle Anderson, Tillman, Bane, and Allen

This gives the Grizzlies the best player in the trade but really fills out the Boston bench with shooters. I really just wanted Anderson, Bane, and Tillman but Allen is in there for salary.

Now that Eric Bledsoe is a Griz does this deal suddenly become more likely?

Thompson and Smart
For Bledsoe and Anderson
Add picks/minor prospects where needed

Why for Boston
Trading Thompson opens up time for Williams and Moses Brown. Anderson is a massive upgrade to our 3/4 rotation. Bledsoe only has to wait 19 days before being traded again due to the condensed season so it doesn't put the team in limbo for too long and is only partially guaranteed to $3.9 Million for 2022 when we would be looking to sign a max guy (Beal?). Bledsoe can also keep the lights on for this year and might welcome an opportunity to showcase himself on a contender.

Clear the decks for the new regime.

Why for Memphis
Smart could use a change of scenery and would potentially be a great backcourt compliment to Jam Morant. Thompson is a fine backup 4/5 option on a short deal to allow Jaren Jackson Jr to continue to recover from his injury and develop on his own time.

Boston and Memphis have always had a similar roster building philosophy and have a history of mutually beneficial trades. If we're trading Smart this would potentially be a nice option for him to rebuild his value for his next contract.
