2008 to me is top 10 all time teams.

Unless there's a serious injection of talent, the 2008 team would murder this lot.

I love Horford, but he's no KG.  This team doesn't have a KG.

Arguably there isn't a player in the league who is really like KG.  Somebody who on his own instills a defensive mindset bordering on mania in himself and his teammates, who is also capable of being a go-to scorer on the other end.

Maybe Giannis? Giannis isn’t manic but he’s elite defensively and is a capable scorer (granted he’s more physical and KG was more skilled). Plus he’s won MVP and DPOY, something KG was able to accomplish

A more durable AD imo.

I don’t think this team is as far off as most pundits suggest. Health played a significant role last year as we rarely fielded a team free from health issues for a sustained period.

We know what we got in JT/JB and Big Al will give us steady min and production and do all the little things.

I think the biggest keys to this team might just be two of our young emerging players: RWIII and Nesmith.

I’m eager to see if RWIII can sustain 25 mpg and impact the game the way we have seen. I’m also interested in seeing if Nesmith can continue to grow into that spot shooter and off the bench shooter that we desperately need. We saw glimpses of it and he projects way better than I thought he would.

For me this coming season comes with a level of excitement. Soon we’ll know who is leading them (my wish is Udoka) and with a healthy offseason and some luck with health next season and continued growth of our youngsters we could very well be back to serious contention.

Also, my hope is that Brad is decisive in giving this team the pieces it needs. Right now we are incompletely built. I hope we see President Brad Stevens (PBS) make the decisive next moves. For me this would include:

Trading whatever parts you need (Not named Tatum, Brown, Horford, Nesmith) to secure a true point guard. A package of Smart + Thompson + whoever else should be able to secure is a veteran point guard. I proposed Smart + Thompson for Rozier yesterday. Mike Conley ot Kyle Lowry (both of which would require S&T which would hard lock us and make us lose the MLE which I would be fine with if the return was either of these two).

I just want to see an element of urgency from the front office.
