I don't get the whole ignoring of the fact that we had injuries/covid.

How does that not affect every single game this season.

I truly believe that if we didn't have league highest missed games due to COVID, and 2 injuries less (Brown/Kemba) we'd have a season where we'd be at around .600.

That'd put us way up, and have us face BKN probably in the conference finals.

I honestly, truly, 100% believe, that without that more-than-significant portion of bad luck, we'd be conference (if not league) title contenders.

If we disagree on that, fine.

But you can't honestly think it had no impact on our whole season.

what happened to next man up? What affected the Cs is lack of depth to respond to the injury and COVID issues.

Lack of depth compounded by no real training camp or time to practice.  Plus, how many teams have the depth to replace multiple starters?

Yeah I honestly don't get it. Take away 3 of the starting 5 of any team and they're screwed.

if anyone should be suspected of phoning it in, i’d start with a few players. i didn’t see any evidence of this from brad or danny.

The other side of the coin is that even if we had our starters do you think we could still beat the Nets, Bucks and Sixers?

I think if we had some continuity with our starters throughout the year, we definitely could have competed. We swept a Simmons-less Sixers team with essentially the same group last playoffs. Our ceiling was never as high as the Nets, but flip the script (us healthy and them missing Kyrie, Harden, and Blake) and we destroy them.

Sixers? Sure. Bucks? Yeah, honestly. Nets? Dunno. But it'd have been a lot closer.

Both of these guys phoned it in this year and I'm glad they did something at the end of the year to get some new blood in here. They should've made this move after the bubble. They should've played all the young guys a lot more if they were just giving the season away.

GM's are supposed to be on the phone.

If you're of a believer in team chemistry and ball movement you'll understand that when the Celtics lost Horford and Hayward the basketball IQ of this team suffered.

If you need a reminder of what both look like, check out this years Phoenix Suns.
Not only that we lost them, but we didn't replace them at all really. The talent we had going out over the last couple of years (Horford, Hayward, Rozier, Morris, Baynes) was significantly higher than what we brought in (Kemba and Fournier + prospects)
So then you believe Ainge has been phoning it for years?
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

I think Thompson has to go

His non chalent attitude towards the regular season doesnt help.  Non stretch ability created no space on the floor

Marcus Smart  .. I think is a goner also.  Team needs to give legit mins to Nesmith, Langford and Pritchard next season

Walker is likely untradeable.  Perhaps the next coach will have him buy into a bench role.  Would make sense also to limit knee flare ups

Grant, Edwards, Tacko, Kornet all have to go. Cant see Fournier and his salary demand coming back. Strictly a rental

Brad biggest needs will be to find stretch bigs.  Maybe they will bring back Olynyk. FA market role bigs such as Muscala. JaMychal Green

No, like I've said before, he was a victim of circumstance.

Roy alluded to it earlier with all the guys who didn't come here (Millsap, Ibaka, Drummond) or trades we missed out on (Aaron Gordon, Myles Turner)
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Not what I saw, not how I interpreted what I saw.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021
