I am not a Doctor but my experience with my own injuries is that going back to back is much harder than having rest in between. For me, that applies to skiing, running, basketball, hockey, any of my activities. I think the no back to backs is a really smart way to manage Kemba's knees. Why risk it.
I feel it is better both in terms of wear and tear on his knees and on winning games to have him go full for games that he plays vs playing less per game but playing every game. How well will he play in that second game anyway? Seems obvious to me.
If we get to the end of the season and winning one more game means the difference between a play in game or not, they maybe you do that.
Right now we are 8th (as everyone knows) essentially tied with Charlotte and New York (who we should be able to win more games than). Miami and Atlanta have a little lead on us. But if we are still fighting for the playoffs at the end of the season, I don't feel that the problem is Kemba taking days off.
