How many more stops do you think Hood has in his NBA career?

0. His last stop will be in China the way he’s been playing. I see it as a good thing that two players who have regressed the most in the league are Hood and Gary Harris - it makes the fact that Danny passes on both guys for James Young sting just a little less.

But he could have had Bruno Caboclo!  Total whiff!

Is Powell and Gary Trent the same player?

I don't understand this trade. Who gains what? Only difference I see is Trent is younger and hence more valuable. So I guess Toronto comes out ahead of Portland, huh? Why did they do this deal? The players are so similar.

This isn't going to do anything for Portland. Powell is going to have a major drop-off the minute he leaves Toronto.

Portland's hoping that Powell is what Trent isn't this season (even though he's close and on track to be in 1-3 seasons); and that's an elite 3-D wing.

Lillard
McCollum
Powell
Covington
Nurkic

Is a solid lineup, where the roles are firmly established.

I think Portland realized they can't wait forever for player development. I can totally understand that.

Powell is a lot better than Trent is right now.  Significantly better shooter and a SIGNIFICANTLY better defender.  Portland upgraded for the season and is trying to maximize its chances in the near term.  Given Lillard's age and how open the west is looking right now, I think that is the right move.  They just got McCollum back, Nurkic is due back any time now.  So they are going to be reincorporating them, so upgrading another spot won't mess up chemistry too much.

Portland really could come out of the west, especially if James or Davis doesn't get back into full health.  The Nuggets got better as well.  The western contenders were smelling blood in the water surrounding the Lakers and put their chips in.

And the Blazers have a pretty nice 9 deep team.  No top 5 player, but Lillard is a top 10 guy, McCollum is a top 25 guy, and then a ton of depth and solid role players surrounding them.  Wouldn't be a typical finals team, but also wouldn't be the worst one either.

Lillard, McCollum, Powell, Covington, Nurkic, Jones, Kanter, Anthony, Simons

Not to mention guys like Giles, Little, and Collins (if he makes it back as is being projected).
