My dream trade had been Kemba to Chicago for Porter and two FRPs (I was willing to protect them slightly).  I know you all wanted Vooch, but this hurts because I wanted out on Kemba.

All I can hope now is the Magic want Kemba.  They can keep Wendell Carter Jr.

What an awful trade for Orlando.

My first assumption was Vuc for Lari, but that is rubbish. Otto Porter expiring another disappointing centre who can’t stay healthy in Carter Jr and two picks that will be mid round 1sts for an all-star is terrible.

Wow, that is a big landscape changer on several fronts.  I am really surprised that either team would do this deal.  I don't feel that Chicago will be good enough soon enough to make it worth getting Vucevic and I don't feel that Orlando got enough back to make it worth giving up their best player.

This may end up taking Gordon off the market and also Markkanen (if he ever was on the market).

Great trade for Orlando. To get a prospect as good as Wendell Carter Jr and two 1sts for a 30yr old center (top 25 player in league) is good haul.

I don't like the trade for Chicago for two reasons.

(1) This further hurts Markkaken who is a more talented center than Vucevic is because of his superior quickness and outside shooting. This forces Markkanen to stay at PF position where has to matchup against quicker SF types who can better defend him and cause him more problems on the other end.

(2) This also does not fit their timeline. Chicago are a very young squad that are not ready to compete for a title. Markkanen and White are still in the early stages of their development. LaVine a little further on but still far away from his possible peak. This is a very young team. Vucevic is a win-now player who may not age so well as a plodding 30yr old center in a league that is getting quicker & smaller all the time. I worry that by the time their youth are ready to compete that Vucevic will no longer be the player he is today.

So I see this as a short-sighted move by Chicago that harms it's future and an excellent long-sighted move by Orlando that enters them into a proper rebuild and they can finally start moving forward again after years (since Dwight) of trudging through the mud.
