Lots of talk in the media and among fans that the team is toast, our top players aren’t good enough, these guys are soft (literally Simmons/Russillo have used the word “soft”)... the whole Perk sideshow...

Does this recent stretch of improved play mean this team is taking on the “no one believes in us” chip on their shoulder? The KG special? Using the bad press to fire them up and strengthen the locker room?

Let's see how they do the next 5 games before hoping they've turned a corner in terms of attitude and effort.  they still have yet to put together a full game in terms of all out effort to beat the other team.

I think having Thompson back is going a long way to maintaining the team’s defensive intensity during longer stretches of the game.

Plus Tatum is on such a hot streak being named Eastern Conference player of the week.

Whether or not the team has a newfound chip on their shoulder, I think the above 2 things have been a huge help.  Keep in mind too we could easily lost the Minnesota game, so we still need more consistent good play.  Once we get Fournier back that should only help.
