ESPN Sources: Oklahoma City is finalizing a trade to send Trevor Ariza to the Miami Heat for Meyers Leonard and a 2027 second-round pick. Leonard must still waive his no-trade clause because of the one-year Bird restriction on his deal, which he’s expected to do for Miami.

Once the trade is completed, there’s no expectation that Leonard would be a part of the Thunder moving forward. Deal is expected to be completed today.

In the end, Leonard's recent actions may have helped Miami.  He had the right to block the trade, thus remaining hurt and taking up space on Miami's roster, but he needs to be as cooperative as he can right now to get a contract somewhere next year.

I don't understand this.  Does it mean they will buy him out?  He has 2 years on his contract.  I guess the final year is club option so a buy out isn't such a surprise.  Still, not sure why he is agreeing to this deal.

At least he won't sign with the Lakers via the buyout market. :P

Yeah, next year is a team option, so they will just decline it and he’s gone. Will be interesting to see if anyone picks him up next year.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Heat are smart.  I had forgotten about Ariza, whose name was mentioned a bit before the season started.

Ariza hasn't played a game for a full year.  He opted out for the Orlando bubble.  I guess this means he's willing to comeback to play for the Heat.
