I was thinking about good players that are bad fits and Matisse Thybulle came to mind.  He and Simmons can't be on the floor together because of the lack of shooting.  It made me wonder if Philly might be willing to trade him for a player that can shoot, like GW or even Theis? GW trade would effectively undo the 2019 draft trade, but I think both teams gets a player that is a better fit.

Thybulle could play with the Cs best players because there is enough shooting to space the floor and he wouldn't need to be a high usage player on offence, just make good cuts get def. rebounds and play defense.

Not sure it would happen in conference in season, but just a thought.

They love Tisse in Philly. I don't think they would be willing to move him for anything less than an unprotected pick and that is if they need picks to send to a team trading them a star.
Danny messed up that trade and there is no reversal. Maybe we can squeeze a second round pick for Carsen and recover some value.

Why would they want to trade with us and why would we want to trade with them? They are direct competition. And why do we need another player that can't shoot?

If they move him it is to be a part of a big trade bringing back a player to be a part of their top 4.

I'd do both these deals in a heartbeat. Don't think the Sixers would pull the trigger though.

Fwiw, the Sixers have a $8,190,134 TPE from the Horford trade to the Thunder. They could absorb Theis' contract via their TPE.

G. Williams for Thybulle works straight up. No need to use the TPE.

I disagree with the premise that Thybulle and Simmons can't play together, when they do in fact play together.  And Simmons also plays a fair amount with Milton who is a worse shooter than Thybulle is.  Simmons has also played with Howard.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs -
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards -

I suppose it's true that Shake Milton is shooting a lower percentage on 3 pointers than Thybulle this season. So for the purposes of arguing Simmons plays with guys who haven't shot well it's a fair point.

But Milton is a much better shooter than Thybulle. Like it's not even close.

Milton has a better career three point % on higher volume both per game and total. Milton is shooting 89% from the line compared to Thybulle's 57%. Milton is knocking down ~50% of his shots from 10 feet out to the three point line. Thybulle is literally shooting 0% from this range. The difference in their 3 point shooting %s is literally a single 3. So while the shots haven't fallen this year for Milton, in terms of functional floor spacing it's not a tossup.

I actually think Philly would do Thybulle for Theis without hesitation. Theis would be a terrific fit this year on a team trying to win a championship. Having his bird rights would also be important for a team up against the cap.

They already got Embiid and Howard though. Theis ain't playing a position of need for them.

Exactly.  Theis does little for them.  Thybulle's defense is much more valuable to them.

Against us having to defend Kemba, Jaylen and Jason.  And against the Nets having to defend Kyrie, Harden and KD.

LINEUPS   TEAM   GP   MIN   OFFRTG   DEFRTG
B. Simmons, .M. Thybulle   PHI   29   194   105.7   103.3

They really don't play together much or well and their offense is not good.

I suppose that's true. In my opinion, they would be wise to move Theis in as the backup center.

But I'm higher than most on Theis and I guess lower than most on Howard.
