I feel confident that he's not available but if Toronto decided to go another direction, I think he would be the perfect piece to round out what the Celtics need.

He's had some big scoring games but I think we've learned that he's not going to be the #1 option on a good team. On the C's he'd have less pressure to score and could focus on being a defensive menace. He'd start at 4 but would spend some time as a 5 in some potentially breathtaking defensive lineups where everyone can also shoot 3's.

Like I said, Toronto would probably not let him go anywhere (he's about to turn 27) but when I think about what the Celtics need, it's everything this guy is.

I agree that the Celtics would be a good fit for him and vice verse.  He addresses our biggest weakness, PF and he could play off a couple of young stars.  But he makes more than the $28.5 TPE so to get him, we have to trade Kemba Walker as part of the deal which is maybe OK for the Celtics but I don't see a scenario where it makes sense for Toronto.

OK, it's almost impossible to see how to get him, but yes, sure.

I'd also put this in the context of discussions about Jerami Grant, who is a very similar player. I guess you could argue that Siakam is a level better, but would certainly cost much more accordingly and would have higher expectations about his role on any given team. I'm not sure that extra level is that important, or perhaps even advisable as a 3rd offensive option, especially when #4 (Walker) has to shoot in volume to have any value to the team.

Grant would be a better fit

Any scenario where we acquire Siakam, while keeping Tatum and Brown, would be a homerun in my book.

I understand the most likely scenario would involve Kemba going to a 3rd team, but you could actually get there with Smart, Thompson, and Nesmith (or Grant, Romeo, Pritchard, etc) in terms of salary. Add as many picks as necessary. I would absolutely LOVE to get Siakam on the Cs.

Our bench would be abysmal, but we could actually trot out a starting line-up of Kemba/Brown/Tatum/Siakam/Theis (or TL). That is definitely championship-level.

He's definitely a good fit. And his contract is a good indication of the market price for a player who won't even be a first option. We'll have to shell out to get a good one.

I think every team would think of Siakam as a perfect piece for their squad

We could get Siakam and Fred Vanvleet together, we still would lose to the Nets.

I don't disagree, but if there's one thing I'm beginning to realize, it's that as long as you have a fantastic starting lineup with ideally 2-3 legitimate stars/superstars, you can still get by. Look at Brooklyn. Their bench in theory isn't great but it doesn't matter too much. You can also recruit guys for cheap off the buyout market or FA's to fill out the roster. Come playoff time, teams usually run just 8-9 man lineups anyways.

My goal going forward would be to have Jaylen, Tatum, Pritchard and Timelord on the team at the very least, adding a 3rd piece/star somehow, and going from there. The rest obviously depends on who is traded away, but the rest can be expendable (including a guy like Smart). I still would love Timelord and Pritchard as the first two guys off our bench and given they are still going to develop and improve. That's not to say they are untouchable, but still we want some bodies out there lol.
