Dallas has interest in Kevin Love (apparently), but little use for what Dallas has to offer in return. Use the deal to land TH Jr.

Hardaway isn't good enough to go way into luxury tax range for especially at the expense of a 1st round pick.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I agree that Hardaway isn't a good fit for us, but I hope another team figures this out though because Love on Dallas would be fun

I find it interesting what folks think the TPE and one 1st round pick is going to get us.

TH Jr averages the same PPG (on 7 less minutes per game) as Barnes, but will come cheaper because he's not locked in for 2 more years. He also can be traded for without dumping salary vis-a-vis the hard cap, which isn't true of Barnes.

Is Tim Hardaway Jr worth a 1st round pick?

I am not sure either way. His game is quite limited outside of scoring. Doesn't impact winning that greatly. Costs a lot of money. Takes a lot of shots, big ego. Is it worth giving up a 1st that has a fair shot at being just as good as he is on a far cheaper contract?

He seems more like a 2nd round pick sorta guy. Or two 2nds.

C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I have no illusions about what the TPE is worth, I just wouldn't use it for Hardaway, especially at the expense of a 1st round pick.  Hardaway does almost nothing aside from shoot and there are far better shooters out there that don't cost 18 million and may not even require a 1st round pick to acquire.

You may be right. But the league is dominated by 3-point shooting. So I’m not sure I agree that upgrading our shooting wouldn’t “impact winning”.

We probably don't have room for any more picks for a couple of years anyway. How many projects are you going to have on one roster? These are late 1st rounders.

Any time you have the option to pass up the next James Young or Yabusele or even Romeo Langford for a pretty deadly veteran shooter — you gotta pass.

Cs fans love to a) overvalue our assets, and b) worry about the luxury tax like it’s their money. Humorous.

Those 1st round picks are also guaranteed contracts.  Vet minimum contracts are partially picked up by the NBA I believe.
