Rondo is well into the back 9. I don't expect much from him in terms of actual production on the floor. (Although he was outstanding in the bubble).

But I do feel he could bring back some accountability on the floor.  He would be able to implement the game plan, work with the young guys, and get into the face of the young leaders when they stray from the game plan.  He was very well liked in Chicago, especially by the younger guys who were getting dissed by vets like Wade and Butler.

I can't imagine it would take much to pry him from the Hawks.

What do you think?

Wouldn't mind, but this is where I wonder about how Brad Stevens and Rondo really got along back in our "tanking days". There were rumors that those two didn't get along as well, and it doesn't surprise me considering CBS seems to have trouble containing + working with guys with a tougher edge or something

The problem is he didn’t do any of this his last year and a half in Boston.  Also, he’s been quite bad this year, and has another season left on his contract.

Stevens has done just fine with Smart, so I’m not sure what truth there is to that.  Rondo was in a terrible spot that year — remember how he was subsequently benched in Dallas — and it took him a couple of years to find his footing as a vet mercenary.  That said, first impressions are powerful, and it’s quite possible that neither Rondo nor Stevens would thrive with a renewal.  On top of that, Rondo is still the player who takes regular season games off, and given where the Celtics currently are mentally, those habits might exacerbate themselves.

If we could get a random PG from the Hawks who’s been injured for much of the year, I’d go for Kris Dunn.  He fits the Kanter trade exception to the dollar.

Well rondo admitted he didn’t play any defense that year so I guess Brad was done with him.

Out of all the trade ideas, this is one of my favorites because it can bring the best return at the lowest cost. This team doesn’t need a complete overhaul, it needs the right move.

This team is in desperate need of a floor general that can control the pace and provide a commanding, competitive, and resilient presence. Rondo can be that. As far as personnel changes, this is on of the best midseason moves that can be made.

3.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists.  36.7% FG%, 32.1% 3PT%, .442 eFG%.  NetRtg of -17 points per 100 possessions.

Is that worth giving up a big chunk of the TPE and spending $7.5 million on next season?

Yes!  He's got three years of good floor generalship left...after his short stints where the team reorganizes...they will continue to play the right way when he's on the bench or directing from the side...

Alas, I fear Danny and Brad don't want his strong personality on the team...

I'm a forever big Rondo fan.

Last thing this team needs is some old vet who doesn't bother to play defense anymore because it is too much like hard work.

If we stretched his contract out. He's pretty overpaid for what he'd be here, which is 3rd string without the ability to play off-ball.

I do love the romantic side of it all though. He's my favourite Celtic PG ever
