The team is not good enough and there’s probably nothing we can do to change that anytime soon, but we’ve got Tatum secured the next four years. If we were to completely rebuild around Tatum and almost nobody else, what moves would you make?
Some suggested moves:
1) Kemba for Conley plus swaps in 2023 and 2024:
https://tradenba.com/trades/uQ3fk8WLwWhy: Get Kemba off the books now, sending him to the best in the west in order to salvage our image with future free agents (looking at Jokic in 2023)
2) Smart for an unprotected 2024 first-round pick and filler that expires in 2022 or 2023 off-season.
Why: See if we can get an unprotected first for Smart before he walks.
3) TT for a second-round pick in 2022 and filler that expires in 2022/2023.
4) DT for a second-round pick in 2022 and filler that expires in 2022/2023.
5) Langford and G. Williams for a second-round pick in 2023 and filler that expires in 2022/2023.
6) R. Williams for a protected first-round pick in 2024 and filler that expires in 2022/2023. Would be lucky to get a protected first.
7) Ojeyele and Edwards for a second-round pick in 2024 and filler that expires in 2022/2023.

The most important move of all, Jaylen Brown and all of the above second-round picks for the first overall pick in 2021 and first-round swaps favorable to Boston in 2022 and 2025.
We then build around:
Tatum
Cade Cunningham (1st overall pick in 2021)
Pritchard
Nesmith
With the following picks also available:
2021 BOS 1st (if we tank now, this could be quite high)
2022 BOS 1st (Swap-See J. Brown Trade)
2023 BOS 1st (Swap W/UTA)
2024 BOS 1st (Swap W/UTA)
2024 Lottery-protected 1st (See R. Williams Trade)
2024 Unprotected 1st (See M. Smart Trade)
2025 BOS 1st (Swap -See J. Brown Trade)
Manage the cap smartly heading into the 2023 off-season so that only Tatum, Cunningham, Pritchard, Nesmith and our first-rounders above are under contract, and we’re a front-runner to land one of the top max free agents in that rich free agency. Can you imagine adding Jokic to Tatum, Cunningham, Pritchard (if he develops), Nesmith (if he develops) and all of the above picks if we nailed it?
We are probably not going to rebuild this year, but why does the above seem more attractive than trying to add to Tatum and Brown (when there seems to be no way to build that duo into title contenders given cap ramifications/timing issues)?
