Recency bias, but after watching him up close these last two games, I just don't get the love for John Collins.

Hawks fans:  After watching Jaylen Brown Wednesday night, I just don’t get the love.

Also Hawks fans:  Kemba Walker looks like an MVP candidate.

Sample size matters.

of the 3, I'd take Barnes due to his consistency and his veteran experience.

He appears to be one of those players that if he's not scoring, he's not giving you much else. For his size and athleticism, his defense is nonexistent. He's not a big who can facilitate. He can rebound, but his interest and effort in that area seems dependent on his scoring.

There's players I'd trade Marcus Smart for, but Collins isn't one of them.

I’ve really only paid attention to him these last two games, but I’m not impressed and totally agree with your assessment.  He’s very inactive.  I think his scoring comes from playing with an elite passing point guard.  He doesn’t put much effort into defending which sets him up to be in position to collect a lot of rebounds.  His stats seem kind of empty.

I have never seen Collins play good defense. In all his games against Boston ever, and the half dozen or so other times I have watched Atlanta over the last few years, I have never come away from a game thinking Collins played good defense.

And, that matches what most people say about the guy. If we can get him for a young prospect and some picks, you have to do it because of the undeniable offensive abilities he has. As a 4th option with the starters and 2nd option on 5 man units playing with the bench, he would be excellent.

But, I really hope Stevens can coach him up on defense. Collins doesn't bring it on that end and we all know how Stevens feels about players that won't give it their all on defense.

Barnes continues to be my choice.  After watching Collins these past two games, I'm not impressed.

Barnes does look like the best fit.  The Kings have lost 5 in a row.  Hopefully, they keep on losing.

If Jeremi Grant can play power forward for us and space the floor he would be a nice acquisition.  Celtics need that 3rd star to compete in the Eastern Conference.  They are missing a significant piece right now.

Of the three, Barnes. He should be available at a reasonable price, and he would be a solid addition who fits next to the Js.

Grant is playing too well for Detroit to move him, and he went there because he wants to be the number 1 option. Collins would take our tax through the roof and his value added over Barnes doesn’t justify it.

I was hoping Toronto would keep falling and they’d make Anunoby available. That’s a guy I would push in the chips for. They’re winning again tho, so...

Going by the trade scenarios you present , I’ll take Barnes.
Like many I was not impressed with Collins the past 2 games and I realize it was a small sampling. And we probably couldn’t afford Collins going forward.
Grant is having a nice year but doesn’t have much of a proven track record.
I dont t think I give up Smart for any of these players
