I hope he moves out of Boston faster than he moves on the court.

Maybe if he went out and developed anything remotely resembling NBA-quality skills he'd have a right to whinge.

As is, he's free to leave if he leaves his contract :)

In his defense he was 4th on the depth chart for centers on our team, maybe 5 with Grant Williams playing some center.

Maybe he has it in him to be a back up Center in the NBA, but we haven’t seen much of him at all to conclude anything really.  I do know some here on this board really liked his play in Europe the year prior.

He was a good player in Europe. Transitioning to NBA speed/talent isn’t as easy for players coming from Europe. The Cs wanted this guy for a few years based of rumors and the contract they gave him signifies their intent to bring him over. His first year was basically a red shirt year. If they could get improvement from him to be a second unit contributor, it would be a big plus for the team and could allow Ainge to dangle Theis/Timelord in deals to improve the team.

Phew! I thought I was going to see a bunch of posts about how we can't lose this guy when I clicked on this thread.

I never thought he was going to make it in the nba. After a year in the nba, I'm more sure he belongs in Europe. I just wish he had a one year deal instead of two.

There’s a reason he is not playing...he just not that good
Unfortunately, Poirier has a guaranteed contract for next season, so the only way we get rid of him is to throw him into a bigger trade package. He does need to go, though. He's doing nothing in Boston except taking up a roster spot and costing $2.6 million.

I wish him the best of luck in Russia or Israel or wherever he ends up.

I watched Poirier live in Orlando v. the Magic.  He looked like a guy who had never played basketball before. His reactions to rebounds were incredibly bad.

He looked decent in clips of him playing overseas.  I think he's just a bit too slow to play the NBA game at this point.  Maybe in the future.

Part of the problem is that Brad has a system that requires the center to do a lot of things, not just set picks and run to the rim.  I think Poirier is probably a pretty solid rim runner but not sure he brings anything else to the table right now.

They liked his height before finding out about his play, more like it

That said I agree with @PhoSita, probably not the right fit for us but he might have value for some other team.

NBA game seemed too fast for him. His Euro clips had me thinking a bigger Theis. I was wrong.

He wants to leave but won’t terminate his contract.  So, he wants to have his cake brioche and eat it too.
