After watching the Celtics for the first 7 games of this postseason, it occurred to me that Kemba Walker already has more playoff wins with the Celts than Kyrie had (as an active player). After last summer, I was concerned that we are getting an inferior guard to Kyrie for the same amount of money and losing our top big man in the process.
I was wrong, in a big way.
Kemba Walker has proven to be a winner, who makes the right play and the right decisions at the most crucial points in the game. His play at the end of regulation last night was unbelievable, and that was the latest in a series of final minute heroics in his brief Boston Celtics playoff tenure. He may not quite have the handles of Kyrie, or the gravitas of a finals-winning shot, but give me Kemba any day and twice on Sunday when asking about those two. He is willing to give up the ball and let others shoot with the hot hand. He digs in on defense and draws charges.
Honestly, we say the future is bright with this squad (and we hear it on all the broadcasts), but Kemba seems to be an overly vital piece of the puzzle. It has become apparent to me that we need to seize the moment and win while he is here and performing at a high level, because he is capable of playing the hero or a supporting member role, so long as he wins. That is a rare find and I just wanted to start an appreciation thread for him.
