Its history starting with Red Auerbach James Cooper ,Bill Russell all the winning team basketball, Russell as a player coach -Barriers got broken in Boston and when GM's were not looking Red picked their pockets with white guys .Hondo ,Cowens  McHale ,Bird and Danny and Tommy playing small ball as a coach it was never us or them it was if you played Celtics basketball .All those photos after winning game 7's exhausted with arms draped over shoulders .A band of brothers all taped like they survived a war
All I ever saw was athletes playing hard ,fast break and defence,
The new crew Jaylen, Jasion ,Marcus, Semi, Grant  and Romeo are wise beyond their years. Jaylen ought to talk to Bill Bradly Princeton Rhodes Scholar and part of that New York Knick era. And then a 3 term Senator.
I can generalize but I am uncomfortable with Afro American except in more formal discussions-black is as descriptive as blonde or blue eyes.
My generation likes to think we broke down barriers back in 60's-.
I am so proud of our Celtics and my growing up in Lexington and Boston.
Lexington was not culturally diverse back then and Boston was broken up North End,  ,Back Bay, South End, Southie  Dorchestor, Roxbury and Brookline- Brighton
But my house in England is diverse most of my sons friends are African/English and he often cooks authentic African dishes. Matter of fact their listening to some sort of Nigerian music right now..

My favourite back then Sam Jones could he shoot and always liked the look of Jerry Wests pullup jumper. But Oscar Robertson was something else can't remember a Boston player ever like him.

Agreed man. As someone who is a diehard Celtics fan, Boston truly is a special city for all four major sports. But, there is nothing like Celtics basketball. The team we have now is perfect for the city. Our fans are the best you will find in the league. Being able to go to the garden, it is an amazing feeling to see how live and energetic the crowd is. Basketball is so rich in history for this city, it is truly something amazing. I hope this team bring another chip back to this beloved city.
