I think he has found a home for now in Boston.  He has had issues with other teams , he never seemed happy very long.  That has to count for something .   We really need at least one huge dude to though in a game .

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I don't think that's likely. I think he's likely topping out at the non-tax payer MLE this offseason. (so a 9.5 million dollar deal)

We will have to see if one of the few cap space teams wants him and can beat that sort of deal. Most of the cap space teams don't seem like a great fit for him so I could see him returning to the C's on some sort of new deal though I wouldn't count on it.

The taxpayer MLE is about the same as the 120% increase the Cs can give him on his contract ($6M or so). I agree with NKY Fan and see if we can nab him for 2-3 years rather than just having him pick up his option.

I would sign him to the MLE, but I just don't know that we'll need to. For Kanter, does he really want to go to a bottom-feeding team for a couple million more dollars. Also, it's not like slower, offense-only Cs have been breaking the bank lately. Even though I am describing his faults, I really do like him and think he would be a perfect player for this team for years to come.

Something that is oft not mentioned is that Boston seems to provide Kanter with the perfect platform for his activism. Not sure if this actually helps, but I hope/think it might

Yeah, and I also think he genuinely loves the city and the fans too. This was the first time I think he was able to play on the road in Toronto (Canada) and I'm sure it meant something special to him given all the circumstances.

If the C's give him the MLE on a 2-year deal, I think he'd gladly take it. Will we? We'll find out. I've been a Kanter fan for a while and he showed what he can really do last spring in the Blazers' playoff run.

I think Kanter will make himself at home anywhere he is, just his personality.

As for the C's giving him an MLE deal for two years, that's essentially the contract he signed this off season. Taxpayer MLE size deal with a player option. I don't think he'll opt out to just sign that same deal after having a really good year, he will be aiming higher.

Now maybe he doesn't get the offers he likes and he would return on such a deal, but I wouldn't count on it.
