I am still very interest in Mo Bamba, I wonder what it would take to make a trade for him.

I have no interest in trading for someone that got totally abused by Theis.

True.

Bamba is in the same boat as Rob Williams.

If the Celts are going after a big man, it should be someone like Ibaka or even Tristan Thompson.

Both those guys also have expiring contracts.

We can't match salaries with those type of guys, that is why i suggested Bamba.

Another possible option would be Wendell Carter Jr. but I'd say it would take Jaylen Brown to make that happen.

Ainge doesn't have to do the trade now.

January or February should be the time Ainge makes a move.

Right now a good deal for the Celts would be Jaylen for Sabonis.
Other than that, Celts will have to wait a couple more months.

I don't understand the sabonis chatter. He's not very good defensively which  is what we need. Jaylen is flat out  more valuable.

Nate McMillan is the Pacers coach.

I don't think Nate will give Sabonis significant minutes if Sabonis is bad on defense.

Sabonis is solid on defense.
Not great, but solid.

Poirier didn't play a single minute for France against Team USA in the FIBA World Cup.
If Poirier can't even be a part of the rotation for the French national team, I'm not so sure he'll be better in the NBA.

Yeah, it's such a disappointment he couldn't beat out the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year for minutes.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

There were times when Gobert had to sit because of fouls or needed a rest.
But Poirier wasn't the guy to relieve Gobert.

Again, not a single minute.

Hard to believe that a guy that can't even be Gobert's backup on Team France will suddenly become a starting Center in the NBA.

At best Poirier will be a solid backup Center.

Um, Poirier played 102 minutes and averaged 5.4pts and nearly 4rebs for France in the FIBA WC. He finished as France's second leading rebounder to Gobert. The other French bigs are much smaller and didn't get many minutes. It was basically Gobert and Poirier in the middle for them and a bunch of wings. He was Gobert's backup and even played with him in some games when they wanted to go huge. The USA game was the only game he didn't play cause Gobert played 34 minutes and scored 21 pts and had 16 rebs. In the third place game against Australia, Poirier actually played more minutes than Gobert, and had 8pts and 7rebs against NBA caliber centers Aron Baynes and Andrew Bogut.

Do some research man before you speak on a subject.

Robert Williams has the size and the foot speed to play the position for us...
It's time to play the kid... He just needs actual in-game experience "as a guy we are relying on."
To me when he plays he is trying to hard not to get benched - has him thinking too much and looking over his shoulder all the dang on time... Just let him go and let's live with it.   He'll be fine.

I believe he can do it.

He does have the size and foot speed.  If only he knew how to play basketball.

He needs reps, work on his body (in particular so he can get in a defensive stance consistently - I suspect that he favors his knees), and some kind of reliable jump shot (even if it’s not from the arc).

I think he’s got an excellent feel for the game, sees the floor, is team-oriented and coachable. And most importantly he’s a worker.

So I can go along with your assessment to a point; I’d say that it looks like he can learn what he doesn’t know.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Theis has the inside track to getting the starting nod because of his familiarity with the Cs system. Personally, I think they have high hopes for Poirier. He has the size that Theis doesn’t have to bang with bigger bigs and good mobility/athleticism as well. I think once he is up to speed on system, Cs fans will be seeing much more of him in the rotation.
