Will be a great player... WTH was Atlanta thinking?.
I think it’s right up there with the Brooklyn trade in terms of worst moves post-2000

I believe they underestimated his marketing potential. Atlanta undersells tickets constantly and they probably thought Trae Young could help with that given his popularity during his college tenure. Doncic, though, has the international appeal. Look at all the All-Star votes he garnered - that fans voted him in as a starter, it was the media and players that kept him out.
as they should have as he is at best the 6th best frontcourt player in the west. At best and he is probably more in the 8-10 range
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson

Still doesn't change the fact that Doncic is a more marketable player than Young. I could care less about the all-star thing, just pointing out the fact that he was 2nd overall in the fan vote in the West - ahead of stars like Durant, Davis, and PG. Atlanta could've definitely benefited from a player with that type of cache.
2021 Houston Rockets

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington

He certainly would be if he were in the East.

West is too crowded.

I have Doncic (and Nurkic) in, instead of Aldridge and Towns.
But it's all very close. I have no objection to your selection.

He absolutely should be, his performance has simply been amazing this season, and this is coming from a guy who's still sticking with his opinion that the hawks will come out as winners of this trade.
How can they? Do you think the pick (top 5 protected) will net them a good player? And Young has been really bad, especially when they played us. He's a worse shooter than Smart

someone broke Young down and showed he actually was doing things backwards.  Usually a player comes in and is very good around the basket and from 3, but is terrible in the mid-range.  The stats showed that Young was actually pretty good in the mid-range (he is shooting 45% from 10-16 feet, which is really good), which is actually a great sign for his development.  that person projected that in a season or two, Young would still be dominant in the mid-range, but then his 3 point shot will have come around and he would be an almost unstoppable offensive weapon, especially as his passing matured and he learns a bit better care of the ball.

I personally still think Ayton will end up the best player in that draft.
