Hayward is a terrific player who chose to come here and play for his old coach. There's almost no circumstance where I'd trade that guy. Too good a player and very bad form for any future FAs we might want to sign.

If there was evidence his leg was going to be a long-term issue, that's one thing, but as it is, we have a 28 year all star who fits our style of play perfectly.

Bring on the Warriors.

Won't be long before GH reminds everyone that he lead Utah to the WC semifinals and an All-Star appearance right before he came to BOS.

Some have forgotten just how great he is.

It's pretty hyperbolic to call a player great for leading a team to a second round sweep.

Especially since the Jazz went back to the "conference semi-finals" last year without Hayward and actually had an improved playoff record without him.

I wouldn't put him in the hall of fame just yet.

Anthony Davis isn’t great? Where has he led his teams? I guess the only great players are ones that play in the conference finals.

Not to be mean to GH, but it's time to trade this guy before he gets injured again and completely tanks his value and loses the entire prime of his career.

He's the most redundant 30 million dollar contract in the NBA.

While we are at it, let’s trade Kyrie before he gets injured again. Let’s trade Horford before his pecs fail him again. Let’s trade Smart before he hurts his hand(s) again. Cut Theis, can’t trust him. And we definitely have to trade Brown because he keeps dunking and it’s only a matter of time before he lands on his neck again.

Yeah. If we want real value, we should trade all our players for draft picks, then tank. We could probably get 2-3 high first round picks for Kyrie, 1 - 2 for Hayward, and 1 for Horford. Then probably get another 5 high first round picks for both Tatum and Jaylen. 1 for Marcus, 1 for Terry, and then maybe 3 more for the rest of our roster.

16 high first round picks? SIGN ME UP! but wait. There's more. We would be bad, so our own pick would be great too until our young ones grew up. We could trade our roster for 20 or so high first round picks and then run the league for the next 5 years! It'd be a dynasty.

My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

(HINT) This could be one reason, your not a GM or scout in real life, if you don't realize AD talent level.

Love the footage of Hayward playing out there, he seems pretty fearless so far. I'm sure it came up but he's been dunking off his injured foot too.  Here's hoping he has a Paul George-like return to his previous form.

GH is going to bring SO MUCH to this team..

Really looking forward to seeing BOS make it work.

TBH I haven't been THIS excited since 2007-08. But the thing with THAT team is that we all knew we had a small window to operate in.

THIS team? We have a 5-6 year window, easily. And probably even LONGER as Jaylen and Jayson continue their development.

GH will be one of our Swiss Army knives (Smart being the other one) and I'm really looking forward to seeing him back in action again.

Gordon Hayward is back to playing full-court, full-contact 5-on-5 basketball.

“I’m just excited to be out there,” Hayward told reporters Thursday. “It’s so much fun to be able to play again and play with my teammates."

Hayward said he's 100 percent and expects to play in Boston's season opener on Oct. 16th against the 76ers.

Hayward has played 5-on-5, full-court for two weeks.

“The past two weeks and the next probably month or so will be good to get back into the game and feel the rhythm, the timing and things like that," Hayward said.

I think his body is ready, right now it is his mind that is giving him some troubles.   The mind takes longer to heal from an injury like this, peeps don't trust their body, fear re-injury or the like.

Almost 3 months? More like 51 days, so maybe you meant 2 months.

The word I've heard is Hayward is not yet the player he was before his injury. And he probably won't be this year. He's a step slower.

My feeling is Stevens made a mistake starting him from the get go in the season. The starting 5 did not have many minutes together in pre-season games, and Irving was also coming back from an injury. That maybe accounts for their slow start.

The other thing that concerns me is that the team may have surpassed its need for Hayward, with the development of young players like Tatum, Brown and Rozier. They may be stuck with a $30M guy who doesn't quite fit the puzzle anymore.

The challenge for Stevens is to establish a role for Hayward. Maybe the best one would be him coming off the bench as 6th man for offense.
