Ainge has at least 3  big decisions...
Who from smart and rozier gets traded
What to do with Morris being in the last year of contract..
Who from baynes and Monroe stays... you cannot pay them both
I see us making a trade during the draft...
He will sell high on rozier

Neither
Nothing. Just keep him for next year.
Baynes. Morris was unplayable for the Bucks series, Baynes wasn't

Ainge will go all in for next season (while also keeping the Kings' pick)
I'm bitter.

Why do that before the market is set for Smart? Rozer won't be any less valuable on July 15th.

I guess the only advantage to trading Rozier during the draft is to use pick 27 on one of the wing/guards that this draft seems deep in.  Khyri Thomas, Troy Brown, Elie Okobo, Chandler Hutchison, etc.   Then match whatever Smart is offered.  Plus perhaps add a big in the draft from the Rozier trade.

But you're right they don't have to rush.  They could draft a guard/wing and still keep both Rozier and Smart for the time being.

This is the issue I see. Trading Rozier locks you into Smart. And then, what if someone offers him 4/$65? And we have to let him walk? All of a sudden that guy we drafted at #27 is our backup at both PG and SG.

If Danny passes on paying Rozier and/or Smart, there will be someone else to pay. Assuming that the Celtics are going to use available salary cap space, I don't see this as a big issue. I like both guards, but overextending is not a good move, in my opinion.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

If he does not intend to actually sign Rozier long term then it makes sense to trade him. He’s playing great but it simply doesn’t make sense to keep him one more year then let him walk. If they decide Smart is the keeper it would be a waste to miss out on trading Rozier, he’d be the third string point guard and wouldn’t play that much. Sell high.

What cap space?

Pretty easy answers.  Baynes over Monroe without blinking.  Why would you do anything with Monroe?  Let him play out his deal.  I would trade either Rozier or smart.  Of course, the caveat is that smart could get a big offer from another team.  What to do from on that is the only thing DA has to think about and of course, it will depend on the offer.

I'm keeping Morris and signing Baynes to the mid level.  I'd like to keep Smart for hopefully 10-12 mil.

The 2019 draft is full of shooting guards and wings.  We are set there.  The 2018 draft has 5 talented bigs.  Ayton, Bagley, Jackson, Bamba, and Carter.  Ayton will likely be the top pick.  Bagley and Jackson will likely go in the top 4 or 5 picks.  Either Bamba or Carter could slide a bit.

I would love to get Carter and probably Bamba, but I'm not as sold on him.  Carter looks to me to be similar to Horford and scouts have been saying the same thing.

I would trade the Sac pick and Rozier for Carter and maybe Bamba and definitely for the other 3 guys.

People would hate trading Rozier, but what is his role next year assuming the team is healthy?  Come the playoffs, Kyrie will play 40 minutes a game.  So will Brown who will be the starting shooting guard.  Smart will play backup at both guard spots.  Rozier's offense has been great, but it won't be as necessary with a healthy Kyrie and Gordon and an improved Tatum and Brown.

A young big will help our future tremendously.  I don't know if it can be done, but we don't know the draft order yet.  But I'm hoing that that's the direction Ainge is looking in.
