.Was that rust or was it Brads game plan and execution.
I was worried about Saric as an X factor
After the Bucks, i found little pressure on our guards and Philly's defense not nearly as intimidating
as the last series -
Horford pulling his man out of paint certainly effected their defense

Miami played very thuggish,Whitehead was useless. Kelly was Kelly,Wade was old.Winslow had a decent series but he is no Jaylen Brown.
We beat Philly 3-1 during the season and i believe we match up well.Marcus and Marcus Morris .
And Simmons susceptible to the grind of an array of different defenders and of course his foul shooting.

We need to attack Bellini and Reddick every chance we get.  They dont have anyone who can guard Tatum, we need to do Tatum PNR or just make sure he stays aggressive.  Baynes hitting 2 three pointers is underated.  If he does that Embiid's defensive impact will continue to be nullified.

I don't think that it is really new, but getting Tatum, Brown, Smart, and Rozier down hill against their slow-footed wings (Simmons, Bellinelli, Reddick, Covington, Saric) is the key to counteracting their length.

Also, I don't think Saric, Simmons, or Covington can defend Horford in the post.

Embiid is not a very good pick-and-roll defender yet. He is generally too slow to hedge without getting a foul and gets caught in between helping on ball and defending the roller. I think we can exploit that. If they drop the weak corner wing, a bullet pass to that corner should yield a good 3 attempt, because their wings are not agile enough to get there quickly.

The 76ers have more individuals we can attack in one on one or simple P&R action based on game 1, but they also have a much better coaching/discipline/rim protection.

I'm curious to how they guard Smart/Morris in game 2. Those are the two C's you can bait into awful shots.

The 76ers do not have a perimeter player who can make his own shot and hit the hard ones like Middleton.

They can't guard Rozier, Smart*, Tatum, or Brown. Horford can also give them a lot of trouble. 76ers should still be able to attack with their match ups as well given how they are set up. It's all about which team is making their shots.

Respond fast when they cheat by switching the mismatch before our guy catches the ball.

Provided that the starting lineups remain the same, and the matchups, as well, by extension, although that could certainly change, moving forward, we have three mismatches to exploit, imo, in the form of Saric on Horford, inside, Redick on Tatum, in side, and Covington on Rozier, as Terry could have a great series without the ball owing to the size discrepancy between himself and his significantly bigger/taller defender.

What I don't like, however, is Smart in the starting lineup, as that gives both Simmons the ability to rest on defense while also leaving us without a ballhandler coming off of the bench. I mean, yeah, I know that we have Larkin, but still.

Other than that, Boston has to play much more intelligent basketball, moving forward, imo, especially when, and as has already been mentioned, albeit in another thread, I believe, guys like Larkin and Smart are out there with Morris, as there were simply too many times when our guards elected to chuck threes instead of recognizing that Morris was the primary offensive option on the court at the time and should be treated as such in those situations moving forward, imo.

Foul trouble notwithstanding, those are my suggestions, for now, lol ;D.

I don't think that Philly has any, no a one, elite defensive players. They have a lot of weak defenders that can be picked on. If they can't work as a unit on defense I think they are going to have some problems.

I think that Embiid is a good defender if you play a traditional game. If you draw him out to th 3 point line he’s a liability. Covington has defensive talent but he has no scoring ability. He’s the most overhyped version of Semi. Other than that, I completely agree.

Simmons can’t guard fast guards.
Redick is one of the worst defenders in the league.
Belinelli sucked when he was young and is basically nonexistent now.
Saric and Ilyasova have two left feet.

Rest are unimportant has they won’t see much playing time.
