He signed a long term deal, doesn't that mean that The Clippers now trade him? See: Griffin, Blake...

Agreed. DA was reported to not wanting to take on half year contracts(unless I read that wrong) so Williams signing an extension could mean DA and Doc got him to sign it agreeing on a trade. Not that is what happened, but it's happened before.

This could also be the Clips trying to build a team thats built for Lebron. Having Bradley and Williams as scorers with Lebron playing the point makes a lot of sense.

Great value for LAC.

He can't be traded for 6 months

Meanwhile, Luol Deng and Joakim Noah are getting paid 17-18M this season for doing absolutely nothing

Huge underpay for his value. That being said I think it sets a bar for a Marcus Smart contract which is good for us.

Yes, DA would definitely give that same contract to Marcus. Problem is, I think Smart would say NYET!....but you never know. He already turned down an extension but we don't know what was offered.

I feel like this will be a regrettable contact

Hopefully not for our LAC pick. If they can somehow keep DeAndre and Lou and add a couple of pieces, that pick should fall right in the sweet spot of 16-20.
If the Clippers pick doesn't convey by 2020 we are stuck with their 2nd rounder so I would like LAC to be a playoff team (somewhere in that sweet spot) next year.
Lou Williams is a very good scorer but I don't see LAC giving him a "regrettable" contract. What would be regrettable is for the Clippers to be a lottery team next year and the year after.
I think this is good for the C's pick.  With Lou Williams, Tobias Harris, Gallinari and hopefully DeAndre or good serviceable assets for DeAndre, I think they are a lower rung playoff team next year - which is right where we want them.

That's what I care about. If the Clippers can stay in the playoff hunt without really contending next year, that's the Celtics' best case scenario.
