Maybe the biggest surprise of the early season thus far.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I would say the Magic is the biggest surprise of the season. With their non-shooters, I didn't think they would be 4-1.

I would think tonight was more of a fluke. There won't be many nights where Chandler Parsons lights it up.

They need to get bad relatively soon.  Their future first is coming to us.

Tyreke Evans was definitely an underrated signing, imo.  Dude's been great for them.

Fluke. I was just thinking about all the teams in the West and the grizzlies are the biggest pretenders

6 games into the season... and arguably one of the most meaningless stretches all year.

why do you think that? They've made the playoffs 7 straight seasons. Conley and Gasol are still in their prime and they got younger and more athletic in the off season.  Now don't get me wrong I don't think they are the best team in the West, but I don't think this start is a fluke either. I just think the Grizzlies are in fact really good.

The biggest surprise is clearly the Magic being 4-1 with a huge point differential scoring 118 points per game.  There's no contest.

The Grizz being good again with a healthy Conley and Gasol isn't surprising.

Turns out having two elite players healthy, in their prime, and with tons of experience playing together tends to result in winning.

I think it's more likely that Parsons last season was an aberration. Dude got that max contract for a reason, he's got the type of game where once he's back, he's back. It's not like Rose where you'll never see him return to his pre injury form, Parsons has a well rounded game and is a capable 3 point shooter.

I'm in the 'Grizzlies are legit' camp.

2nd win over Houston.  Also beat golden State

Last night they beat Houston at Memphis and the Rockets were on the second night of a back to back. In addition, they were without Paul and Gordon.

Gasol has been playing unreal and they're playing at a much faster pace. However, I'm pretty concerned with Conley. Not sure if many have seen him play this season, but he doesn't look the same. He's struggling with his shooting, but that's because he's struggling getting past his defender. His quickness and burst are not Conley-like. It could be the shoertned pre-season or it could be age/mileage starting to catch up.

Magic has been the biggest surprise and honestly it's not close. I think Moranis forgot about them when he made the comment.

magic played a very weak schedule.  The Grizzlies beat GS and Houston twice. I find that way more impressive and surprising.

Not much of a surprise. I wouldn't have picked them to start 5-1 but I did pick them to make the playoffs and figured around 46-48 wins. A hot start isn't so out of the ordinary. My prediction for them hasn't changed.
