The day after we won the draft lottery I was so excited about this teams future, more so than ever. I made a projection of what I think the team would look like heading into the 17/18 season. Since then Boston has traded the #1 overall pick, signed a top free agent, acquired a superstar, and replaced 4 starters..so you can say my projections were a bit off.

Here was my predicted 15 man roster in mid may...

Isaiah Thomas , Marcus Smart , Terry Rozier
Gordon Hayward , Markelle Fultz , Gerald Green
Jae Crowder , Jaylen Brown , Abdel Nader
Richaun Holmes (traded for AB) , Ersan Ilyasova (cheap KO replacement) , Guerschon Yabusele
Al Horford , Amir Johnson , Ante Zizic

*other main asset being 2018 BKN pick

Here is where the roster stand now...

Kyrie Irving  , Terry Rozier  , Shane Larkin
Marcus Smart  , Jaylen Brown  , Jabari Bird
Gordon Hayward  , Jayson Tatum  ,Abdel Nader
Marcus Morris  , Guerschon Yabusele  , Semi Ojeleye
Al Horford  , Aron Baynes  , Daniel Theis

*other main asset being LAL/SAC pick

Case for projected roster
- not that big of a drop off talent wise between Isaiah and Kyrie
- BKN pick is probably more valuable than LAL/SAC pick
- deeper team
- Isaiah is motivated by contract season to have his best year yet

case for current roster
- Kyrie is slightly better than Isaiah and won't have to pay IT the max
- Jayson Tatum
- still have a lottery pick coming our way in next 2 years
- More playing time for Tatum/Brown

which would you rather have going forward?
