Kyrie is a great basketball player, but I don't want to be married just for the sake of being married.

I like IT a lot more than any of the current Celtics, and dislike nearly everything about Kyrie.  I'll wish the team success, but will root for IT to make it to the Finals this year.

Wow, lol clearly you're not a Celtics fan

Probably shouldn't post here then

So you're trolling me again in another attempt to get me banned? Come on, dude.

As you get a little older, you'll start to realize that you like some Celtics teams more than others based on personalities, etc.  And that's okay.  In fact, it means you're actually watching the games.

Trolling you to get you banned? What? Lol are you kidding?

You will be rooting for Cleveland over Boston

So..... I don't see why you're posting on this forum. I'm not saying you should be banned

I am saying join Clevelands forum since that's your team now.

I have read tarheels' posts for many years and he is absolutely one of the best Boston Celtic fans here. That you differ from him on what you deem to be correct behavior is no reason to criticize him him by demeaning him for his feelongs.

I like IT a lot more than Irving. So, I will cheer on IT, but still watch my Celtics.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

So, I'm going to get a temp ban because I told the poster who's rooting for IT and Cleveland over Boston that he shouldn't post on the celtics fan forum..? Lol?

I mean, I think he needs to toughen up for one thing. I don't really think me questioning his fandom after a ridiculous statement like that is all that harsh.

I'm certainly well within my right to question you as a fan when you say you're rooting for Cleveland over Boston, right?

Is this the twilight zone?

By your own admission you are jumping the gun. This current celtics team hasn't played any games yet....

He has the right to his feelings.

It's not easy to see a Celtics team filled with quality players who embody what it means to be a Celtic (guys like IT, Bradley, Crowder, and even the lesser guys like Jerebko) that just won the East and made the ECF...get torn apart the very next season, and rebuilt into what is essentially Kyrie, Hayward, Horford and some rookies.

I like Kyrie, Hayward and Brown, I don't mind Horford, and I am massively high on Tatum - and yet it was still tough for me to stomach the sign of IT and Avery Bradley being traded out to other teams.  It's tough.

Hell, when Danny traded away Pierce and KG, I honestly felt this way too. I felt that I was over it - I was still a Celtics fan, but I didn't see myself being able to support a garbage team through years of rebuilding, and I figured I would support somebody else instead while still rooting for Celtics on the side.

Then I watched the Celtics play and you know what?  No matter how garbage they were that year (tied for 5th last is pretty garbage) I still loved watching them.  I loved that they played hard and played with great passion and energy every night, and even though they lost games, I still felt pride and joy watching them and rooting for them.

And when tarheelsxxiii comes to watching this new Celtics team in action, maybe his feelings will change the same way.  Maybe he will see that just because we have a lot of new guys, doesn't mean those guys don't deserve to be rooted for.

But either way there is one thing I will say.  I can't stand Lebron as a person, and whatever team he is on, I always want them to lose miserably.  But if the Celtics don't make it to the finals and the Cavs do, and it comes down to Clevleand vs GS in the finals, then for the first time ever I am going to root for Cleveland in that series - because if the Celtics don't get a ring, I'd like to see Thomas and Crowder get one.

They may no longer wear Celtics jerseys, but in my eyes they are still Celtics through and through.

I wasn't aware that being a Celtics fan is a prerequisite to being a member of Celtics blog forum?  Is that in the forum rules?

I mean I guess it's assumed by most, but I don't think there is any rule enforcing it.

I think that's a pretty idiotic statement to be honest.

Where is the written rule book that defines what it means to be a fan?  Where is the rule book that states that we are allowed to be fans of a team, but aren't allowed to be fans of a player?

I wasn't always a Celtics fan.  In fact compared to most people here, I probably haven't been a Celtics fan for very long at all.

Kevin Garnett was my favourite player for years when he was in Minnesota - I was never a fan of the Wolves specifically, but I was a fan of KG, so I followed the Wolves because I wanted to see him succeed.

At the time I didn't actually like Paul Pierce, to be honest.  Never really watched him play much, and watching highlights of him he was never that flashy a player, so I felt he was kinda boring.

When KG and Ray (I was a fan of both) came over to Boston, then I wanted to see those guys succeed  - and so I became a Boston fan by default.  And from watching Pierce and how domiant and plain badass he was, I became a Pierce fan too.  And while watching those guys play, seeing the love of the fans, the competitiveness of the owners and all the rest of it - I became a proper Celtics fan.

And, long after the departure of Ray and KG and Pierce, I remain a Celtics fan.  I stuck with them through the rebuild, through the frustrating times (there had been many) and through the good.  And I continue to be a fan of KG and Pierce even as they move on from playing - but I remain a Celtics fan too.

So I don't see what is so bad about following a player from one team to another.  It's the equivalent of being a Colin McRae fan and continuing to support him as he moved from Subaru to Ford to Citreon.  If you are a fan of a particular sports person, why shouldn't you following them regardless of what team they go to?
