The net is all that matters.  If you move from a B to an A, you took a step forward.  The micro transactions don't matter.

When we traded 5 players, a pick, and cash for KG, we didn't take 7 steps backwards.  We took 1 giant leap forward.  It's a star league, as Lebron has shown 7 years running.  The top 3 players on your roster dictate if you're a contender.  You can play Channing Frye and Zaza Pachulia and Iman Shumpert, but you gotta have Kyrie.   Our top 3 is better now.

So, in your mind, Kyrie is of the same order of impact player as Kevin Garnett?
Straw man.

Adding Garnett moved our team forward.  Adding Kyrie moved our team forward.
Garnett didn't just move the team forward.  He became the heart and soul of the team.  Garnett was an ALPHA.  Kyrie is an Alpha wannabe.

Actually PP was our ALPHA.   KG had a poor rep prior to coming here as a guy who could not win a playoffs series.

I agree one step backward (IT, BRK pick), two steps forward. Plus the acquisition of the Lakers/Kings pick whenever it converts which I struggle to believe there are 5 worse teams than the Lakers next year (which gives us an 80% chance of being top 5 pick and we cross fingers it doesnt land at 1).

But man am I giddy. Add a guy like Thomas Robinson and go 2 deep at each position with some grinders on the bench:

PG: Irving/Rozier
SG: Brown/Smart
SF: Hayward/Tatum
PF: Morris/Robinson
C: Horford/Baynes

Bench: Nader, Theis, Yabusele, Ojeleye, Larkin

ONE step back ?  I count 5. Thomas, Crowder, Bradley, Zizic, Brooklyn '18 pick.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Thomas gone in 1 year.
Crowder being gone allows Tatum and Jaylen to develop and Hayward to thrive.
Bradley gone in 1 year.
Zizic is completely worthless.
Nets 18 has less then 1% chance of being a Kyrie level player in 5 years.

And now Kyrie gets his chance.
