yep.  a real and actual GM with success in that role.  It sounds like he wanted final authority and the Knicks wouldn't give it to him.

Griffin wanted to bring in his own front office but the Knicks want the bums that have been there for the last 10 years. The Knicks just wanted a name. The Knicks had a real chance for a real from office but aaaaaa NO!

Rob Hennigan and Dell Demps should be getting nervous right about now. Griffin was a very good, smart GM and both of those franchises need a fresh face.

Griffin needs to find a franchise without meddling from ownership. NYK would be a bad situation.

That'll never happen For the Knicks while Dolan is alive. I live in NY and I never heard of a team who's owner was as hated but the fans as much as Dolan, who will never sell the Knicks (or the Rangers). Maybe he will eventually be ousted by the league like Sterling was, but never will he leave voluntarily or willingly.
