I dont think they will

Maybe explore a sign and trade

Paying Porter that much money would handcuff the Wizards moving fwd

Letting him go would handcuff them, too, but in a worse position. They're gonna run it back with this core for as long as they can
I'm bitter.

That's got to sting to be forced to pay Otto Porter that kind of money. I think he's a good player but not worthy of that kind of cash. These are the type of decisions that can kill your payroll which hurts the team. If I was Washington I'd call the Celtics and trade for Crowder and let Porter walk!

Not really... Beal, wall and gortat, morris are enough for wiz to stay competitive... There was key times when porter didnt even play vs the Celts in the playoffs

He is like an evan turner... Pretty overrated.

Washington basically has to match this to keep Wall happy right? Like, they have to.

It's funny, because Wall pretty much threw Porter under the bus last week saying they needed an upgrade, but there's no way they can get anyone even as good as Porter to replace him if they don't match.
They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Porter isn't worth that but the reality is if they let him go, they can't replace him. Also, with Wall non-committal about signing his supermax deal, they almost have to do it to show they care about winning.

Who's left that BRK can throw an offer at? Need the rest of that cap space tied up in the Mozgovs of the world.

The best case for Boston, the Wiz officially match at the last moment keeping the Nets from offering that money to another player until it is to late.

Its a crazy world where Porter gets 104 and Hayward gets 128.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Olynyk, Andre Roberson, Tim Hardaway Jr., Nikola Mirotic, Jonathon Simmons, JaMychal Green, and Nerlens Noel are all younger players that fit in with the Nets timeline.

It's always a good thing when your opposition is desperate. If they do this and also sign Wall to a supermax they're really going to handicap the team's ability to make further moves.

Not only that, according to this article, with physicals, they can tie up Nets cap room until the 12th to screw over the Nets for making that offer! Fingers crossed this happens.
