They whined plenty during that game, although I don’t blame them. The officiating down the stretch was bad.

Slightly different circumstances. The refs fouled Shaq out with 5 fouls. The game was replayed from that point.

NBA refs are the worst of any major professional sport.   I think they carry grudges and miss calls a lot more than in the NFL or MLB.

that was the most recent time.  I believe it has happened before.  The actual rule allows for overturning if the refs misapply a rule which appears to be the case here
