No matter what happens this is an extremely exciting off season for the Celtics.  Most fans outside of GSW have nothing to really look forward to for next year(s).  The Cavs fans have no clue how their team can get better to beat GSW because they are in cap hell.  San Antonio Fans have some optimism because their team played well before Leonard went down.  There are also rumors of CP3 considering them but they have zero cap room and do not have a high draft pick.

Now to the Celtics.  They have the number 1 pick in the draft and will most likely pick potential franchise player Markelle Fultz.  They have the ability to sign a max free agent.  They also have pieces in Bradley, Smart and Crowder that are attractive to other teams to improve via trade.  That's a triple threat of excitement that no other team can match.

Imagine picking Fultz and Danny trading future assets for a player that slips that he has ranked high (Giles?).

FA we sign Gordon Hayward.  Fill our roster with some vets who can't sign with Cleveland or GSW that want to win.

Trade we move a few excess player(s) for a big (Sign and trade for Jam Green. Tobias Harris, Kyle O'Quinn, Derrick Favors or Dieng)

No matter how far away we are from beating Cleveland or GSW the Celtics are the only team who can improve to the point where they can come close in the short term and be the next GSW in the long term.  If I was any other fan in the NBA I would not be this excited.

I'm not sure why this would be an issue since It is the reason we are in this position of competing. Amd I'd hate to give up IT,but if this is the case.

Trade IT,AB,Crowder and the Clips pic Memphis pic to the Clips or Utah if Griffen or Hayward do want to leave. Great package instead of loosing some thing.

Sign who ever you don't trade for. Also go after Ingles or Hill(who Hayward is close with) and now you have your staring PG and you bring Brown up to the SG, and Fultz can develop off the bench the first year unless he actually earns the starting role.

Hill/Smart/Rozier
Brown/Fultz
Hayward/Green/Nader
Griffen/Yabu/FA
Horford/Zizic/FA or Rook

But I'm not sure why Hayward has an issue. It passes well for some one that can score. Hayward isn't a ball dominate player, and plays PG a bit. and it takes scoring stress off of both guys. No reason both can average 25ish a game.

How are you getting Hill?  He's a free agent looking to get paid a lot more than we could offer.

Also you'd have to salary match 30M in a sign and trade for Hayward or Griffin.

Wait, a player isn't jazzed about playing with a shoot first point guard?

Shocking.

“I do hear, this isn’t coming from Hayward’s camp so it’s under the gossip category and not the necessarily reporting category, but I do hear that Hayward has significant concerns about playing with Isaiah Thomas. In other words he wants the ball in his hands, he doesn’t just want to watch Isaiah dribble around and do his thing."

So it's a rumor, in which the initial rumor has the phrase "it's not coming from his camp......"

What passes for rumors blows my mind. It's basically some guy dancing around the fact that he THINKS hayward doesn't want to play with IT.

Hope its true. Hayward and fultz might be enough to really give cavs a fight
not next year unless James has a noticeable decline.
He's got to at some point, although it looks like he still has a lot in the tank.

Probably not next year, but he'll be 33 and he's already played almost 1300 games. Even he will hit the wall one of these days. My guess would be he'll be superman for at least another 2 years.

PP and KG were solid until mid 30's. lebron will easily be more solid easily until mid 30's if not until late 30's. let's just keep prepping for next 3 years. as long as lebron plays he will be a solid contributor. i do not see him riding a bench. he will retire when he wants.
Tim Legler (whom I trust, played in NBA) said the first thing to go will be his fast-twitch. He will lose some quickness which affects (among other things) his first step, getting off a quick jumper, and defense.  However, he will remain physically strong for quite a while which helps on drives to the basket and fighting for rebounds.  I could see him playing more PF as he ages.

I actually think he would dominate at PF and should play more there now as is.  He just understands the game and its flow so well, if he would just stop bringing it up the floor and just camp out down low, he could be a dominate player for another 5 years.  That is another reason, why I think a Love for George trade makes a lot of sense for the Cavs.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

LeBron has never liked playing in the post.  It's not going to become more attractive to him as he ages.  He can certainly pull a Kobe and just give less and less effort on defense to artificially inflate his offensive performance, but he'll look just as bad as Kobe did his last two or three seasons.
