If this what you believe then you should be all for trading away the starters and opening up playing time and gaining more assets to pair with them.  Because the best way for those guys to develop is to get a lot of playing time and to pair then with sufficient role players that they grow with and trust.

Honestly it is a good point.  This team has reached it's limit.  They can beat anyone besides Lebron's Cavs in the East.  What is LBJ's window?  If it is 3 years then we should trade everyone over 25 on the roster.
which is interesting.... Did Danny AND brad Stevens know that we can't beat lebron?

Danny wanted to trade IT apparently for a lotto pick, then Stevens says late in season that our record is too good for the team. Its like they both saw it coming....

I want Ayton with the 2018 pick...   He is in the same realm as Oden, Embiid...ridiculous physical tools. But also can play

I really hope he's not in the same realm as those guys, health wise.

This, TP. He even traded Pierce for business reasons, and sold us to the fanbase saying that it was to keep him winning. Ainge is also very good in terms of communicating. And I firmly believe he is trading IT before losing him for nothing next year.

DA is very aware that we can not beat Lebron without a super team. This is why at the deadline he was trying to trade for Butler and George (per Griffin the Cavs GM). Had he landed both of them while retaining IT and AL the Cs would have had the prime talent needed to over take Lebron. Currently only the warriors are at that level.

With the likely hood on landing two all NBA level wings who both are in the top 15 of lebron defenders (this is subjective but I struggle to think of 10 better) being very low I would have t o agree with the OP Fultz should not be traded neither should Brown of Nets 18. DA has created a special situation in Boston where we can literally have a 50 win team while the young players develop into a championship team. This is not come easy and DA will have to make tough choices regarding IT, AB and even Crowder but its a great problem to have.

I have to belive this ^ is true .  During the regular season Lebron plays 75 percnt or less most nights. And the Cavs look beatable or if he is not playing , they are beatable .   He just goofs off for about 75 games a season and plays hard a feew games against the Warriors or Spurs as a guage to see where his team is at . or how much energy to,expend to win.

With out spending at least 120 million  to match Lebron .......there is no chance ,   and its going to take prime age super talent to beat him , not over th hill players like Wade, D Will , ect .  Three or four of the remaining top 10 players in their prime.  Team LeBron has THREE top players and another max contract in Thompson .......How can any team really win when they are spending this kind of money .

What is funny in all of this is that the Cavs actually got all of their players to sign for essentially well under current market rates.

This season, the 'max' deals of Love, Irving, and Thompson are: $21.1M, $17.6M, and $15.3M, respectively. That is nothing compared to what players of their caliber are going to now be making and they are signed until 2019/20. The Cavs did an excellent job locking up their players to max contracts before the salary explosion. Even Lebron is only making $30.9M, which is WAY less than his market value.

Next year, Horford will be making $27.7M and Hayward $30.3M. There is really no way to compete with the current Cavs or current Warriors cores since they were able to create super-teams prior to the sudden rise in the cap.

of course they did. They basically said as much and made no moves at the deadline because what was the point. I mean Ainge and Wyc both basically said that
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

All 3 of them have been crystal clear all season that the team is not good enough.  I don't think any of us felt otherwise, but we at least thought they would put up a fight.

My desire last season and this season was just to have them get to a series against Lebron to see them compete.  They haven't.
