Less than a week after ESPN laid off a bunch of people they pull a coup and hire Woj.

I'll be curious to see what other parts of the Vertical come along with Woj.  ESPN fired Chad Ford too, so I wonder if that means that Draft Express will be partnering with ESPN in some way, like they did with the Vertical, or if they will stay independent.

ESPN must have paid a pretty penny to get Woj to come over to their side.  I really hope he is given more influence over their NBA coverage beyond just the breaking news aspect.  I find ESPN's NBA coverage besides Zach Lowe to be pretty bad.  Way too elementary, and hot takey for my tastes.  Woj will hopefully have input into overhauling the presentation and coverage of the NBA from where it is right now.

I've never cared for Woj much beyond the breaking news aspect. He uses his articles too much to carry water for his sources, or to pursue personal vendettas.

I like his podcast a lot.  He gets some great guests, and I've found he usually brings out some interesting aspects of his guests that I don't hear elsewhere.

I agree with you that many of the articles he writes are highly slanted, and agenda driven.

I enjoyed the Vertical on Yahoo.

I guess they are going to put his stuff on Insider. That's a bummer because it was obviously free on Yahoo, but I'm not paying for Insider with the crap ESPN continuously puts out there.

Doc Rivers is basically a ghostwriter for Woj's Clippers articles.

In theory, I signed up to pay for Insider a few years ago and still have it, but I don't think they have charged me for it in the past 24 months.

Yeah, his articles were my least favorite format of his. His breaking news is always valuable and his podcasts were surprisingly great. I assumed they would be more bland because he wouldn't want to run the risk of offending any of his sources, but there's good material in there and his guests don't seem to hold back.
