I'm a big fan of Jae, but the only way we would trade him is for an upgrade. If we are replacing Crowder with Butler, George or upgrading at the 4 with Blake Griffin then I am fine seeing him leave.

I think Jaylen is going to take the starting spot from Jae eventually, so moving Crowder now could be selling high before it becomes obvious we need to trade Jae.

Jae's contract is really underrated, though.  We have him at ~$7 million per year for 3 more years not including this season.  He'll be criminally underpaid for the next 3 and a half years, and having him instead of someone like Bradley that will be looking for another a payday soon could be the difference between keeping our good players in 2018 and having to let them go.

The mid-level exception (signed by guys like Brandan Wright, Shaun Livingston, and Josh McRoberts in the past couple of years) will be over $8 million next year.  Crowder will be getting less than $7 million, and has much better production.  That contract is gold
I don't see us having to let players go who are already on the team. I expect ownership to be willing to go into the tax using bird rights to retain free agents. The roster will need to make room for new young players which is why I'd like to package Bradley and Crowder with picks for a star.

Would you not trade Crowder for Butler or George because he's on a good contract?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

This isn't funny guys. Jae Crowder who is a starter getting paid Rookie scale money. For Carmelo Anthony who really is a THIRD option at 32 getting paid like a first option. If Danny Ainge pulls the trigger here, but Cousins was a no go because of "character concerns"... and Carmelo Anthony ain't on freggin' St. Patrick now, I'm personally going to mail him some e. coli infested Chipotle.
Not saying I want Melo.
But ideally if we are a contender, Crowder should not be a starter.

A guy that nearly made the 2nd all defensive team last year and is one of the most efficient shooters in the NBA this season should absolutely be a starter on a contender.  He's one of the best 3-and-D players in the NBA and he's getting paid ~$1.5 million less than next year's mid level exception.
I got to disagree. I want more stable numbers from my starters. Jae can go from scoring 0 point to scoring 20 the next game.

In that case it's your expectations that need adjusting, not our starting lineup.
Nothing wrong with my expectations. just what I believe is needed for us to be a contender.
I am not in a rush for a trade. and if DA decides to keep building with draft, I am ok with that.
But i think SF is a position we can use an upgrade.

Yes, that makes Jae incredibly valuable to us, not just for his production, but because he gives us that production without taking up cap room.

But that value is two-edged.  It means he looks just as valuable to other teams.

I don't want to see Jae moved, but I can totally envision various transactions where it would make perfect sense.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Ownership will be willing to go into the tax, but only by so much.  I'd hate to see us lose a guy because the tax bill on him would be too high.

As for trading Crowder, it would depend on the deal.  I would include Bradley (even Bradley and a late first) over Crowder in a deal. If they just wanted, say, Crowder and the 2017 first for Butler, I'm not gonna say no just because Crowder is involved, but I would counter with including Bradley instead and go up to Bradley and the Clippers pick (or Celtics 2018 pick) if needed.

If they wanted Crowder, Bradley, and the 2017 pick I'd probably just say no (unless we had just signed a max free agent and were looking to contend)
I'm bitter.

FWIW, Drummond has also removed all Pistons tags from the social media.

Crowder, Bradley and the '17 pick for Butler is the most I'd be willing to trade.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
It would be sad to see Crowder go, but it would be devastating to see Crowder's contract go. He's not 'untouchable', but all other avenues should be explored before trading Crowder.

And, what? Bradley, Crowder, and the '17 BKN pick for Butler?? That would be one of the biggest heists ever by Chicago. No way in heck Ainge even considers such a deal - especially before the offseason where he has money to spend while keeping all three players/assets.

So goodbye Jae Crowder and hello Carmelo Anthony...and Kyle O'Quinn?
Melo and O'Quinn for for Crowder, Amir, Zeller, and Jerebko.

Still another option. Ainge is full of options. Hope he doesn't run out of time.

Jae crowder has removed all his Celtics info from his social media including twitter and instagram. He also tweeted

😎😜😆 at 12:45 am... Is he on the way out for melo. Phil Jackson has already expressed his love for crowder and regret for passing him up when he had the chance to take him in that dallas trade and chose the draft pick(cleanthony early)

Can someone put this one to bed and post a screen grab with an image of Jae Crowder with this supposed Celtics theme header? Pretty please

I don't know how to do screen grabs...but the social media-twitter, facebook, instagram for Jae Crowder that the original OP is referring to ---. It shows Jae Crowder as a white guy. So I'm going to say it's fake.

Another victim of the discrimination against the emoji lovers.

Which reminds me, we want you back Beat LA  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

@Chef Parish

There are several free applications that allow you to take screenshots really fast. I personally use Gyazo, I would recommend it, though some people have told me there are better out there.
