Having said all this, who would say no to these moves:

Trade Deadline Move:

Celtics trade Jae Crowder/Marcus Smart/Amir Johnson/Brooklyn '17 & '18 for DeMarcus Cousins/Omri Casspi
Reason: Obvious (Rim protector Big) and we lose cap holds for Brooklyn pick

Sacramento, it's pretty obvious. We don't get one Cousins' leg with that package.

If they were sure nº 1 picks, maybe...but not now.

You really think Sacramento says no to a starter level player on a cost controlled contract (Crowder) and what equates to 3 lottery picks (Smart + 2 Brooklyn picks)?

Salt, is there a way we can get $3-4m off the books while landing Cousins/Hayward? What's your opinion on the resulting team?

Only if you trade Jaylen Brown.  There will be no bench.  And the team would be unaffordable in 2018 when Cousins, Bradley, and IT all hit free agency.

I don't think it's wise to hope for both.

You're not beating Warriors or Cavs by adding Butler OR Cousins. Pass

We're not getting Cousins, but he'd be a matchup nightmare for Cleveland.

I have seen several times posters posting trade ideas that basically turn our bench next season into the 2017 pick, Yabusele, Zizac, Nader, Jackson, Mickey and Brown. I don't care how great you can make the Celtics starting five, if that is your bench, you aren't going anywhere. You might actually be taking a step backwards until that bench can grow up develop and learn NBA basketball

Well to get Cousins it would be too much and what you are left with wouldn't be enough. Cousins would do well but the team would still lose.
