the moon and stars aligned on this one-ainge liked this kid, brad feared tis kid and isaiah and green had previously combined their energy and gifts
i read quite a bit and watched tapes of green and immediately gushed over this minor transaction
from my reading green stated his new found passion for defense at miami, his teammates backed this up
green missed a large portion of pre season and had a lingering hip flexor -not a fun injury for an explosive player
my hope for green had to be satisfied with his veteran presence and his playing around with the rooks
there was still support from isaiah and brad, with time you could see his athletic ability was back in his running routes and his pull ups
he started to produce and get comfortable -the three was back and gerald is now close to 40%
i like the way ainge and brad can take a talent  bring it back and enhance it  by using that player
at certain times against favorable matchups
the 2nd half of season i believe favors the celtics as teams just go through the motions, defense breaks down and  the morale hits lows and injuries pile up and don't rush back
play for pay ,not to get hurt,,not putting in that dig down deep effort and coasting to playoffs or tanking for the draft or padding stats
these types of situations" the green" can feast on being rested and motivated

i remember the first time i saw greens hair-at first i was put off but called it art-
now its a statement of his,a want to be a celtic - a statement of commitment to team first
and winning
i have no doubt about the value of green in playoffs and his effect on opponents game plans another weapon for brad like a stiletto, sharp and penetrating

nice to see isaiah lob for a look down on rim dunk by green, just for the psychological boost
isaiah really appreciates greens game as does brad-
as posted earlier greens impact will be felt over 2nd half of season

Hi Rollie,

I agree with most everything you said.  However, at first last night, GG's defense was very sketchy!!  He seemed very lazy in the first quarter or half on D.  Secondly, if Brad really appreciated Green as much as you say, then he would have seen that we were struggling MIGHTILY to score in the last few minutes and played Green.  He can flat score the basketball!!  I love Gerald Green and my ties with him go way back.  I used to take my son to Fayetteville Patriot (they were an NBADL team) to see GG play.  Wow, that was in early 2006 and my son was seven (he is now a freshman at NC State).  We got our picture taken with Gerald on Sunday during the Martin Luther King weekend that was hosted in Fayetteville that year.  We also got a program that Danny had signed on the front.

Therefore, I am THRILLED to have him back!!!!

Take care,

Smitty77

-thanks for personalizing with your history with gerald
green like most thin long players struggles over screens but i'll watch first half over, it is a 5hr time difference so i was up late last night
was that a intentional bank? -i think it was only because of his next play holding the ball at arms length and shooting an almost out of bounds fade away that hit side of backboard -like he was feeling it
i loved using the backboard on those angled shots, hrs practicing them and fade away banks-all those games of horse calling bank
brad feared green but replacing one of our guys in the last few minutes that have produced at both ends in 4th
to sub green in may have been too much too soon

Wow!!  Five hours!!  Where do you live rollie?  I felt for sure that the bank shot was NOT intentional, but you make a great point about his next play.  I will go back and watch that too.  If it was intentional, it was old school and a thing of beauty!!!

Take care,

brought up in lexington, my wife i met in boston and i got press ganged to england-raised my kids here old school
-i once watched sam jones give a shooting exhibition at my school-he must have hit about 100 bank shots
derozan made a nice shot high off the backboard more isaiah ish
those long threes from straight away that bank definitely are a miscue except maybe from larry bird
we made a game of kiss it off backboard
he did sub green in towards end of 4th quarter
how did you like his back down for a score after the dunk--

Thanks for the info!!  Do you like it in England?

Are you referring to Green's back down and fade away on the baseline over Lowry?  If so, it was classic!!

Take care,
