HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH-more injuries than any other sport
i tried to steer my son towards tennis because basketball is so dangerous for older working guys with families to feed
back to bradley -please do not risk further injury against an in season rival
in the end a so what game

It's not nearly as bad as football Rollie, but yeah, its worse than most people realize when it comes to injuries of the legs (ankles, knees, heels, achilles, etc).

Don't forget injuries from the odd errant elbow to the head, getting an arm yanked out of socket, or the wrist injury from trying to brace a fall (my own personal 'achilles heel').

And those [dang] floor burns...ouchie!

BANNER- how does marcus and isaiah avoid floor burns-do they teflon coat their skin
a lingering sprained wrist for a shooter was a nightmare, isaiah is finally healthy, green and marcus
nobody gave credit to marcus fighting those injuries for two years-i just watched his college senior year tape he was powerfull and agile with vertical

Floor burns, legs snapped in half, ankle sprains are the worst (I'm out on one right now), blown out knees, it can be a scary sport. Thankfully it doesn't cause you to go punch drunk after it's all said and done like football. Those lingering affects of repeated head trauma are pretty scary and those guys risk their future every time they go out there.

Basketball is so good for your cardio and you can play into your 50s.  There are also senior leagues with 60 year olds in them.  It's something that puts you in incredible shape and you can do it your entire life.  I think the good greatly outweighs the bad.  Plus, it's really good for you mentally.

Yeah but life doesn't end at 60.   I've never seen a 70 or 80 year old playing.

To play like I wanted to, it was bad for my body. Knee and ankle problems now. Even two thumbs that like to dislocate if you look at them wrong.

It took me years to be able to play a different style. More of a facilitator than a slasher/scorer.

Not very effective but allowed me to play a few more years.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

lets swap war stories- played against and with cousy at an exhibition game -scored on him the 2nd score came at a cost a elbow to i assume kidney-was p---in blood, so off to mount auburn hospital for 5 days -

after a wicked sprain, rollie massimino gave me inflammatory pills, i'm at orthopedic drs office and massimino comes racing in panic sweating in agitated state-he had given me some absorbent capsules from the bottom of empty bottle and thought he had poisoned me-the sprain was worse than a break the dr said and he was right

the worst was i had a groin pull and remember atomic balm, in the middle of a game taking a foul shot the sweat must have spread the stuff and my genitals were on fire-i just took off for the locker room and showers-that was torture then complete embarrassment-

You mean the Bob Cousy? Rollie, I surrender... I have nothing that can even remotely compare to a near food poisoning after playing a world champion lol
